story? local derby. bosnia is known for nationalist behavior, it's actually problem which is familiar with every eastern country - use football hooligan for nationalist causes.Originally posted by Norbert Dentressangle View PostThe white guy trying to trip the red guy? thx. i know its' relative, but TM87 are best football fans in Bosnia. for example, last year the same Borac won league title on FK Željezničar stadium (last game of the season), and "Željo" fans awarded them with applause, and then this **** happens...Originally posted by Mostar View PostNice

As I said before it is newly formed local derby between Zrinjski and Velez.Originally posted by Norbert Dentressangle View PostThe white guy trying to trip the red guy? WTF! What's the story there then, who was at home, who scored?
Zrinjski (the players in white) were playing at "home" and Velez (the players in red) had 1-0 lead before the hell broke loose.
I'll try to explain the situation there in few short lines if possible.
There is enormous amount of hatred between Muslims and Croats in that region.
Zrinjski, the club that was established by Croats in early 1900s ceased to exist after the World War II when Yugoslavia was created and it wasn't until the Civil War (the war between Croats, Muslims and Serbs) in former Yugoslavia in early '90s was finally over that Zrinjski as the football club was re-started and it is considered now as "Croatian" football club.
Velez, the second local club now recognized by many as "Muslim" football club, was the only club in that region between 1945 and 1991 and it used to own the stadium on which that game was played until the Civil War broke.
When that happened Velez was forced to move to suburbs to the small ground on the left side of the river where majority of the population was/is Muslims and stayed there till now.
Zrinjski expropriated that same stadium during the Civil War in early '90s and it is treated by them now as its own as the population on the right side of the river where that stadium (called "Bijeli Brijeg") is located was/is predominantly occupied by Croats.
I think you get the picture why there is so much hatred and bitterness between those 2 sides.
The worst part in all of this is that what used to be the best friends and neighbors until early '90s now those same people are the worst enemies and cannot stand each other as they are divided by what they called "religion".
Think of Rangers and Celtic multiplied 100 x.
Enough of that.
Here is an interesting info for you.
Many probably don't know that Luka Modric used to play for Zrinjski
