Russian club Anzhi planning sensational moves for Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal star

Mega-rich Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala want to go on a sensational shopping spree - with the likes of Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Robin van Persie in their sights.

Roberto Carlos, one of the first big-name stars to move to Russia following Anzhi's takeover by billionaire tycoon Suleyman Kerimov, is currently caretaker manager at the club.

Despite signing Samuel Eto'o in the summer - on wages of around £300,000 - the club are struggling and are currently 7th in the Russian Premier League.

The club's long-term ambition is to become a major European force and having signed Eto'o, Anzhi's owners believe this is just the start.

And now Brazil legend Carlos is keen for the club to ramp up their spending - with a whole host of Premier League stars on his shopping list.

The Russian Premier League has five games to go but Carlos is already planning for next season and he wants to sign van Persie, along with Lampard and Gerrard.

Van Persie has worried Arsenal by claiming he is not ready to discuss a new contract and now Anzi are circling.

And with unlimited finds at their disposal, the club are confident they could put together a financial package that would certainly tempt the Dutchman into considering a move.

"I will have dinner with the President to discuss transfers for next season. We want to sign players like Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Robin van Persie and Robert Pires," Carlos told Radio Marca.

Carlos also spoke about the vacant managerial position, claiming there are many names in the frame to take full charge of the club, including England boss Capello, as well as two ex-Chelsea bosses.

He added: "In terms of managers, there are various names, such as Capello, Guus Hiddink, Wanderley Luxemburgo, Luis Felipe Scolari and Luis Aragones."

Doesn't actually state they want those specific players, just those like them. Why they'd for Lampard though is beyond me

To be fair, why they'd go for Gerrard is a mistery as well, his glory days are behind, he is fairly injury plagued and getting on a bit.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I'd let Gerrard go if they offered £85m.

They may be chasing these players to raise their profile a bit. It's probably the easiest and quickest way to raise be noticed. Nobody heard of LA Galaxy until Beckham got there.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to turn a players head who is looking for one last big payoff before hanging up their boots as opposed to a Messi or Ronaldo who are still on top of their game.

The players that have been mentioned would do well in the Russian league. Mix the side with some quality younger players in the initial years and you would expect them to be successful.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."
