Mind you, almost all pubs are in desperate straits, the whole sector is in crisis. Fewer people watch games in pubs now than they used to - illegal internet streams don't help.
They're not illegal though, per se. There's a lack of laws/regulation which content producers are trying to countenance by threatening/banning sites all dry and sundry.
    Are we winning?

      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Where on earth do you live? There are plenty of places to watch 3pm football on a Saturday.

From what I remember the boxes are about a couple of hundred quid and you need a dish. I don't think you need any subscription though. Might be worth a Google.

Sure a couple of people here will know more than I do about it and will come along shortly.
I applied for a job at a provider. I'll have a look in my sent items

I have no idea how this is good news. Pubs will be free to show 3pm PL games on a saturday, which will lead to falling attendances for the smaller clubs, as some of their fans will opt to just go down the local to watch Man Utd instead of attending their own club's games, so ultimately, the lower division smaller clubs will go out of business.

We'll end up with 2 professional divisions and about 40 odd clubs gone bust, loads of people out of work and a load of ****.

Plus, PL clubs will see a fall in attendances as some of their fans will go to the pub instead. And they'll receive less money from Sky - how will they make up for the shortfall....oh yeah, even MORE expensive tickets.

                Great....

On the bright side if you don't like the price of the tickets, you can now go to the pub instead...

I'm not sure that regular match-going fans (who are the heartbeat of any club) being priced out, is a 'bright side' in all honesty.

this will hurt sky, prem clubs, lower league, non league clubs and most fans, however dave who likes a drink down the feathers on a saturday afternoon will be pleased

despite what the courts say, sky will remain in control. clubs take their money as gospel the game would be ****ed without it

Exactly, it will damage the core of football, while appeasing the 'easy easy!" Soccer AM brigade, who can sit all day in the pub, clapping their hands like deranged sea lions.

The amount of teams that would go bust would be pretty big. Good players will leave, foriegners wont come. We will have a glorified SPL however the kids will come from thru the academies and England might have an alright team.

And it will appease those who cant afford to spend £40 on a ticket before any transport costs. And clubs will have to learn to cope with less money.

Are you a deranged sea lion if you sit in the pub watching the game on Sky Sports, or is it just because its 3pm on a Saturday?

That could happen, but England u19's, u17's etc arent exactly pulling up trees - so i'd suggest that there simply arent enough english kids who are that good, as being the reason why england are rubbish, rather than anything else.
