Sunderland footballer Titus Bramble has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and urinating in a public place.
The 30-year-old defender, from Wynyard, Teesside, will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on 10 November.
The Premier League star was arrested in the early hours of 28 September on suspicion of a sexual assault.
He was then arrested again on 14 October on suspicion of a second sexual assault.
Bramble's lawyer said he would "vigorously contest" the allegations.
He began his footballing career at Ipswich, before making a £6m move to Newcastle United.
He then joined Wigan Athletic and then moved back to the North East with Sunderland last year
