The geordies will be screaming into their brown ale over this one.

Good old Ashley though, you can always rely on him to come wading in and **** things up when they are going too well.

Going well is precisely the reason for the timing of this change IMO.

SSN doing their best to rub it in.

They go live to their reporter outside SJP and the caption reads "Sports Direct Arena". To top it off, their reporter goes around speaking to NUFC fans wearing a red and white striped tie.

        Brilliant...

Anyone read the Llambias article were he revealed details of the Carroll transfer?

When one supporter asked him “Is he worth £30m?” Llambias responded: “No — he’s worth f*** all.” He then explains that after rejecting the £30m offer, Newcastle refused to sell even for £35m unless Liverpool paid the entire fee up front.

A move that forced Liverpool to ask Chelsea to increase their first instalment of the £50m they had already agreed to pay for Fernando Torres!

Llambias explained: “It is about control.

“We had the control. We knew the Torres deal was there.

“We drew that f****** deal, perhaps the ultimate.

“So £30m? F*** off! Don’t waste my time and I slammed the phone down.

“£35m? Everybody including Pardew [manager Alan Pardew] all agreed.

“But the £35m they wanted to pay over four years. It was rubbish. Mike (Ashley) said — and he is a brave boy Mike I promise you — get all the £35m up front.

“We got it all up front and then they never paid us on time and we charged them 12 grand f****** interest. "

Sounds like a touch of bravado thrown in there imo.

                  What a massive own goal.

It is Ashley's own company and that means that the money won't affect the revenue when UEFA look at the books.

You are not allowed to increase the revenue with money from your own companies.

                  What a massive own goal.

Not really Arn, they've already said they're only doing this to promote the 'attractiveness' of the promotional potential involved with this naming opportunity.

Well, I would say that Qatar could be interested in buying the club. Then the naming rights would make sense. It won't make any sense as long as Ashley own the club. Excellent potential. Big support, right area and they need a club to promote the 2022 World Cup. They don't need to build a new stadium either.

They won't be able to buy one of the top clubs in Italy and not Barcelona or Real. Only Man U and Newcastle left really.

Don't Craig. Arn will only put the naming rights, PSG, and French players together and end up on planet Zog.

Apparently Mike Ashley is a Spurs fan. Why was he wearing the Newcastle shirt to games?

I can see why they did it, but as Ayres said about our stadium. There isnt any value in selling the rights to a ground that already has over 100 years of history.
                            *Except Michael, who died.

You think they will qualify for Europe?
                              Oh I don't know.
