    Local Footy

I was considering going to watch a local match tomorrow, Newport County AFC vs Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.

Its £15! £15 to watch Newport AFC

This is the standard ticket price. I'm sure I read recently that you could get a ticket for the same price to go and watch a Premier league game at Blackburn.

I was expecting to pay something like £8-10.

Is this pretty normally for a match at this level (Conference National)?

My very local team is North Ferriby united, £9 to get in there, but they do an absolutely amazing Burger/Pie chips and peas for £1.50
The times they are a changin'.

Yup, sounds about right. My local teams (which I both dislike) are Aldershot and Farnborough.

Last time I watched Aldershot it was best part of £20 per ticket. I see Farnborough five or six times per season and they're £12 or £15 per ticket. The local team who I support is Woking but they're a short train away and £12 per ticket - an afternoon out there with the lads and a couple of beers is easily £60. For a poxy Woking game.

Check it out Suarez, you could get yerself a 10bag and THREE burgers at North Ferriby United tomorrah! Imagine that, 10bag, three burgers (you'll have to get Gibbo to chuck em over the fence, seeing as you've already wasted yer money on that 10bag), and, to save the best to last:

            Weather report for North Ferriby:

14 degrees, yet bright sunny spells during the day!!!

Woking is £12, must be pretty standard in the Conference South that price

                  Mate we are scum

Did you get tickets to the game in the end?

Love Woking. Great day out. Well it isn't, but that's what makes it great.

Did I tell you that I know Sep Sole?

Thing is Woking's poopers will go shortly as per. The last time I watched them was March or April against Ebbsfleet and they were terrible. It was freezing and my only memories of the day were drinking Stella on a park bench at 2pm near Kingfield, and walking from Ash ****ing Vale to Tongham. Got Ash and Ash Vale muddled up innit. And I missed my train from Liss to Guildford three times in the morning.

                        Painfull day

The problem with football nowadays is that people don't think or care that football exists outside of the Premier League and Championship.

20-30 years ago a lot of non-league sides would attract crowds of 1000-2000. Most of them are lucky to pull in crowds of 300-500 now.

The reason why clubs charge £15-£20 (generally only Blue Square sides) is to cover the cost of travelling and players wages. There is no TV money in non-league (besides Blue Square which is a pitiful amount) and no money filters down from the Premier League or the Football League (selfish, short-sighted, greedy chairman took care of that).

A lot of non-league clubs can't make ends meet with the money they get from gate receipts so they rely on chairman who want to plough their own money ino clubs. I've seen first hand chairman practically go broke trying to keep a 100 year old club going.

I don't think £20 is going to break the bank to watch real football, enjoy a pint at the game, meet the players afterwards and stand to watch (if you don't want to sit). If £20 is too much then you can't afford to go league football or Premier League.

Go support your local team even if you only go when your professional team plays away from home.
                          Nowt wrong with lurking!

Chester is anything from 8-15 for an adult and they are playing in the league below Conference regional. They are making good money though (£107,000 pre tax profit for their first year). Average gates are almost 2,500 and they are usually taking more than the average home gate for the league to each of their away games. Whether it lasts as the new club becomes more settled only time will tell.

They do however offer 5-15 year olds a season ticket and replica shirt for £50 which is pretty good value IMO.
                            Football without Origi is nothing
