Germany have been very much on the up for the last 2 or 3 years, while the Spanish appear to be in danger of hitting some kind of plateau and one wonders if the Germans will overtake them next summer as the world's best.

Germany should be favourites for Euro 2012 IMO.

I've alluded to it before and it's no great surprise that the hosts are seeded into the first pot, as it always happens - but it's absolutely pathetic that Poland and Ukraine will represent 'top seeds' in half the groups. Absolutely ridiculous, the draw will be totally lop sided, with 2 piss poor groups and two groups where the third seeds are better than the first seeds in half the groups

Germany in pot 2 They're possibly now the world's best team and they're in pot 2 Imagine a group of Spain, Germany Portugal and France

            When is the draw made?

Its supposed to be done by the UEFA coefficient which doesn't make sense as France are higher than Greece

Edit - A quick look on Wiki comes up with this

                          Final ranking in 2011

The ranking points to be calculated for UEFA Euro 2012 final tournament, will be found by adding up:[5]

40% of the average points per game, earned in the 2012 Euro qualifying stage.
40% of the average points per game, earned in the 2010 World Cup qualifying stage and final tournament.
20% of the average points per game, earned in the 2008 Euro qualifying stage and final tournament.

Makes it a bit unfair for teams who qualified from the smaller groups.

Although an average points per game is being used, the lack of an extra teams from one of the poorer countries doesnt give them a chance to boost their avg.

I mean, Russia FFS. They are pretty awful, and by pretty awful I mean ****. Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, France - all better than Russia.
