Reduce top leagues to 16 teams

And expand the CL - so says Barcelona's president.

Euro CL games on weekends - this would be the first step to a european superleague.

Depends which way you look at it. At least getting to Stoke away is somewhat feasible.

lose those 8 prem weekends, and have a euro knock out tournie with 128 teams and a week spare

UEFA/FIFA have been banging on about reducing the number of teams in the top leagues for as long as I can remember. They're going to be happy that the Barca president is now saying the same thing.

Can't see it happening though, certainly not anytime soon.

What is the point in expanding the CL there are enough crap teams in the group stages already, expanding the CL would create more of these games.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

That's never the first step towards a European super league. Why are about 10 steps down that road already.
                  Oh I don't know.

Great, so all the other teams in the prem will lose gate recipts because there not in europe, and the gap widens further.

It'd devalue the CL even further, and we'd only play 30 league games per season. Sounds ****.

I have no interest in the CL now we aren't in it, at least not the group stage. Don't like this one bit.

Nahhhhh, I like the size of the league as it is, i can see the commerical and professional appeal of a European Super league in the future but personally i think it'd be quite sad, i mean what makes games like AC Milan vs Barcelona or Liverpool vs Real Madrid so exciting is that they don't happen on a regular basis . I also like the fact that you can premier league teams from smaller cities or towns, in theory they can climb the leagues via promotion or fall through them with relegation, a superleague would **** with that relegation/promotion process.

Barca are just whinging because they only have one real competitor in their league
