This isn't a popular opinion but I'd rather someone who spoke their mind instead of someone who just says the right things in front of the camera but behind the scenes couldn't give a ****.

At least with Blatter you know where you stand. He doesn't preach one thing in front of the press and something else behind the scenes. He's always been like this and continues to be himself, which will probably get him the sack but at least he's not just saying the right things for the sake of his job. I kind of respect him for that.

The biggest problem for me in dealing with these issues is that everyone's trying to be too PC and not really saying how they feel. If we could have honest discussions then we could solve the problems otherwise the whole thing is just superficial.

He also said any players found guilty of racism on the pitch should be thrown out of the game.

Very worrying developments imo. having said what he's said in the apology, and the less than favourable reaction to it, especially in the uk, he'll be out to prove he's tough on racism on the football pitch, and for all the wrong reasons.

That African fella talking today, fifa delegate, the one pictured with Blatter on their site, was talking like Suarez was guilty, and calling for Liverpool to punish him severely.

Oh really? I guess you have never read this then [EVERY football fan should read this, it's quite incredible]:

        http://www.transparencyinsport.org/

FIFA is the most corrupt organisation on the planet (with regards to sport without a doubt), they pay NO taxes, they answer to no one but Blatter himself. You should read that website, it's by the highly respected and commendable journalist Andrew Jennings, that'll shed a lot of light on FIFA and how it's really run. Un-****ing-believable.

Also, he cannot 'get the sack', as he pretty much owns the ****ing thing. He will never get the sack.

          Jesus!

So lets keep the convicted criminals, the drug cheats and corrupt officals in football but kick players out because of racists remarks?

Quite surprised to see anyone might think that! I find him to be unashamedly duplicitous and self-serving. Even in this thread there's evidence of his flip-floppery.

Sepp Blatter looks after Sepp Blatter! Going from the shaking hands on the pitch comments to ban them from life comments just highlights what red polo was saying, he looks after number 1 and will do what is needed to hang onto power.

              complete parasite.

The point I was trying to make is that, with this racism issue, he could have just tried to score brownie points with the football world by completely condemning it and taking a really hard line. Instead, he said what he thinks and, rightly or wrongly, at least we now know what is really going on inside his head and for me this is one of the most important steps in solving this issue instead of just jumping on the 'kick racism' bandwagon.

By sticking to his guns and putting his foot in it again, we can see that there might be a feeling amongst some that footballers should 'just get on with it' and at least now this can be addressed.

                That's all I was saying.

Blatter calls press conference to address the issue of racism in FIFA.

It's disgraceful mate but I honestly wasnt referring to the corruption but more his ability to continually stick his foot in it which can bring some issues to the fore and they can be addressed. I was thinking in particular his views on homosexuality (Qatar) and racism.

Anyway, I know what I said is quite a skewed way of thinking but was just trying to drum up some discussion. The sooner him and his cronies are gone the better.

Aye Maxi, you're a good egg and I did see where you were coming from originally and to an extent I agree.

I just like to go around and enlighten people (a bit too full-on sometimes, in all types of topics), so I fancied sharing that link on the side.

                          Fair enough matey

I think I just begrudge any showing of respect towards him! Agreed though that his regular slip ups are a good thing whatever way you look at them! Transparency vs comedy, not sure from which pov it's better

Interesting to see if Pele's remarks spark as much outrage from the English press and public.

He said he never experienced racism as a player and there's not racism in europe as all the teams are full of black people.
