    'Arry 'appy to sacrifice points?

It was suggested on the wireless this afternoon that Harry Redknapp had identified the United away game as un-winnable, and consequently chosen to rest some 1st teamers, and accept defeat, choosing to save them for games he DOES feel his side can take something from.

Firstly, do you believe this is feasible?

Secondly, if it is indeed what he did, how 'fair' is that, to other title contenders? Especially if he doesnt do the same, when his side go to Chelsea, Arsenal and ourselves?

Any views on this type of thing?

If that's true Redknapp should be sacked. I do believe it's feasible - I'm sure Bryan Robson did it with West Brom once or twice in the Prem - but I also think it's ****ing outrageous.

I've just looked at their team and in fairness it looks full strength or thereabouts, but with the notable exception of Kanu - who was an unused sub. Frankly, there's no excuse for that. He's the Premiership's top scorer, a class act in form and unless he was less than 100% fit, there is NO EXCUSE for leaving him out.

....especially seeing as Kanu is in my Fantasy Football team!

        Bollocks.

Harry Redknapp's job is to do well for Pompey and keep them high up the table, if he feels the best way to do this is by 'resting' players (from a small, quite limited squad) in game that has a very, very slim chance of winning, then fair play, It's not a ridiculous concept by any stretch of the imagination.

In fact, many would argue, it's quite clever.

          It's not remotely clever.

He won't keep them high in the table by laying down and dying at places like Old Trafford (look at the Blue****e at Arsenal last week), when in reality his in-form side had a chance of at least giving United a game. They may not have won of course, or even drawn, but regardless this type of defeatism has no place in the Premiership - it makes the title race a whole lot less honest and true.

We pride ourselves in this country in supposedly having "the most honest league in the world" and this type of thing goes totally against the British way. Redknapp's been in the game long enough to know that anything can happen and that Pompey were more than capable of getting a result today.

          I think it stinks.

I don't think we should be too bothered by it, it's the Portsmouth fans who should be disgusted by this behaviour, if it's true. Portsmouth have always had fantastic away support and if Harry picked a weakened team they should have their ticket price refunded out of his wages.

Ah yes, he's another 'notable absentee'. ****in' joke. The last thing we want is the Mancs being gifted points.

Whilst i agree with AA that Redknapp is entitled to do as he pleases, as long as his board feel he's fulfilling his duties. However, it is indeed a p1sstake.

It's effectively *match fixing*. At the very least there should be an enquiry.

Tough one really, he's doing what he thinks is best, because in his view his team had a very small chance of beating United. So by leaving some players out he has given them a rest at an occasion were their inclusion would have made very little difference.

However, it's as good as rolling over and dying, not playing your best players in one of the hardest games of the season. And it's doing a disservice to the supporters and gifting Man U an unfair advantage.

Its against the rules. Fielding a weakened team brakes FA / EPL rules. Its not being clever at all.

Apparently Campbell was ill. To be fair if it is true that 3 of his first choice back 4 were out for the game then I can't see he did anyhing wrong. He had to make a choice between two inform strikers up front to accomodate a perfectly reasonable change to 4-5-1. If he lied and did indeed rest players then it is upsetting but in my opinion his only duty is to Pompey whether we like that or not.
