I think we do, I am amazed people seem to think we are broke .. I dont think thats the case at all, I think the funds are there especially for this kind of purchase ... but what would be an appropriate price for this lad

    20 ? 25 Million ?

Cause I think thats what he will go for, plus a bumper wage deal which will in turn have a knock on effect for our other starlets

hes exactly the kind of the player we should be going balls out to sign

I think we will be sold for about £10-15m. Anything beyond that is just crazy. Would not mind us paying a big fee with additional payments depending on progression, which is what Arsenal have done with Walcott and Ox.

could he play one of the 'wide' roles in the front 3?

Yes, but he is another player who doesn't score much.

Natural position for him IMO. But he can also play as an orthodox wide man.

He is 20. And plays for Crystal Palace. Please give him a break.

He is a forward scoring 1 in 9. Doesn't matter who he plays for or how old he is, that is poor.

I will say it agin, he is 20 years old, playing in a pretty poor team and he has made his mark. Albeit he may not be prolific but he is not a striker by any stretch of the imagination.

How many goals did John Barnes score for Watford in his first 2 seasons? He turned out okay didn't he?

Zaha is a rough diamond, I just hope if he signs we can help him realise his potential. If we do he will be one of the most exciting players in the league, no doubts.

IMO we have enough young talent coming through at the moment, I'd prefer to see us sign players who've proved themselves a little more and for longer at a higher level coming into the squad, still young 22-25 sort of range but have a few seasons under their belts.

He was also playing against poorer quality opposition.

Add to that the most assists he has contributed in a league season is 2 (6 assists in his whole career despite 2 seasons playing 41 games)

Barnes scored every 3.5 games for Watford. In his first 2 seasons he scored 23 goals, 16 more than Zaha achieved in his first 2 seasons (one of those seasons was in the top flight too). Additionally Barnes did that is less games in his first 2 seasons than Zaha managed in his first 2 seasons.

These first 2 season cover his age between 17 and 20.

Between the ages of 17 and 20 please mate. Not his overall stats.

OK, impressive but I still stick by the fact that Zaha is young and his overall worth should not be judged purely on goals alone.

True, but his assist rate is also rubbish to be fair.

I don't think he is any better than what we have in Suso and Sterling.
