      RIP Socrates
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Goal at around 0.45 in tells you everything you need to know. A ****ing Rolls Royce of a footballer. RIP

He actually failed a trial with Shelbourne when he was a medical student in Dublin in the mid-70s. Apparently he ****ed about too much.

Yeah, a one-off game in 2004. Garforth Town.
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

                Sad news. RIP Dr Socrates.

He was a class act and my limited memories of him are from the 82 and 86 World Cups.
What an incredible team that 1982 Brazil was, still the greatest team I have ever seen.
Will never forget his one step pelanties either. Legend.

Astonishing that people believe this. Like a player of his ability wouldn't stand out like a sore thumb at that kind of level? He'd be on a different planet altogether.
