"Is it morally wrong what Chelsea are doing? For me, it is

    Mourinho criticised by Johansson
    Uefa boss Lennart Johansson

Johansson is unhappy with Mourinho's approach to the game
Uefa president Lennart Johansson has criticised the behaviour of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho after the midweek Champions League draw in Barcelona.

Uefa will hold an inquiry into the game - in which the Blues had six players booked - but Johansson, 76, said he was disappointed by the Chelsea boss.

"Mourinho has a duty to see he has respect for the game and not to behave like a kid," he told the Sunday Mirror.

"He makes statements like someone who's been promised candy but didn't get it."

Johansson, who was in London seeking support for his campaign to be re-elected as Uefa president, said fining Chelsea was unlikely to have a big impact on the London club.

"I do not believe in fines when Chelsea have the money they have to pay it. It must be judged differently," he said.

"It's like any crime - when it happens the first time you are treated in a fairly decent way but, if you repeat the crime, sentencing is much tougher.

"Sometimes we are not severe enough."

Johansson said he was not happy with the manner in which Chelsea and owner Roman Abramovich had used their financial power to build a squad of world-class stars - but admitted Uefa were powerless to intervene.

"If someone is wealthy enough to buy a club and he likes to spend his money buying players what can we do about it?" he said.

"If you talk about law, that's one thing. Here it's a question of morals.

"I'm very, very sad about this development. I'm against it.

"I have to wait until the laws exist and try to come back to the original situation where everybody was happy when we had a balance between home-produced and imported players.

"And more and more clubs and coaches are doing the same.

"Is it morally wrong what Chelsea are doing? For me, it is.

"But, at the same time, I cannot blame them for doing something that in law is accepted."

I find it very odd that the head of UEFA, who should make sure that his organisation is absolutely impartial at every opportunity, is coming out saying this.

    Very unprofessional IMO.

It's good as it suggests that they aren't going to let this kind of situation continue. They are already talking of restricting club spending to the profit they make. That would shaft chelski.

When has Johansen ever been about professional, but I don't care about it on this occasion because he's after Chelsea.

I am in favour of a salary cap, but I feel rather than make an example of Chelsea he should have just said that! Just think it's odd to come out with a statement like that really.

UEFA are powerless and they know it. Empty threat from an airhead. Chelsea have more money than sense and would beat any restriction imposed on them in a court of law. Things will only change when Roman leaves.

If they make it 50% of net income - Chelski would have to sell 40 million worth of players every year

They're not Al. They can set conditions under which clubs have to be run. They are already exploring a series of avenues to curtail the rich owner phenomena.

Johansson has tried to deny that he intended any criticism of Chelsea's owner, Roman Abram-ovich. But he could not hide his disapproval when he told Sunday reporters: "If Abramovich likes to spend £1 billion to buy players, we can't do anything for the moment. If somebody is wealthy enough to buy a club and have the honour of winning the League or whatever, what could we do about it? I'm very sad about this development and I'm against it. For me it's morally wrong that clubs can just buy success."

interesting and definately suggests someining is in the pipeline.

FIFA are a joke. Nothing will come of this. Like nothing will come of the foreign quota initiative, despite lengthy discussions and proposals. All hot air.

Bunch of ****s that think there over the law. Most hated team in recent years and not because of there money but it has alot to play with it but because they have a cnut of a manager who has made Chelski more hated and a manager that if i was a player would not want to play for.

Kenyon most be really gutted that Chelskis image is marred by Jose actions the World Wide Brand will not be a succes while Jose is in charge

Mourinho is bad for the sport imo.

When he first came on the scene it was mildly amusing the way he riled the opposition, but it seems to get uglier by the minute. It has got to the stage where Chelsea players will do anything to get a result, irrespective of the legality of their actions, while Mourinho will do and say anything, knowing that the worst penalty he will receive is a monetary fine.

His actions in the build up to, during and following the Barca game were an absolute disgrace. As were the actions of his talented bunch of thugs who do his bidding on the pitch. Thank god he never became our manager, he is an attention seeker, a cheat, and the game would be better off without him.
