Get it done Ed!
The Corriere dello Sport claims Manchester United’s new defender will be Philippe Mexes of Milan.
Louis van Gaal made it clear he requires reinforcements at the back and in midfield after a shock 2-1 home Premier League defeat to Swansea City.
The main target is Roma centre-back Mehdi Benatia, but Bayern Munich are widely reported to have leapt into the lead for the €30m-rated Morocco international.
Instead, the Corriere dello Sport today insists Manchester United are eyeing up a cheaper and considerably easier to get option in Mexes.
Already 32, the Frenchman has been in Serie A for 10 years between Roma and Milan.
He is on the final year of his contract and the Rossoneri would be prepared to let him go for a nominal fee.
Last season Mexes scored two goals in 31 games between Serie A, the Champions League and Coppa Italia, but also received two red cards and 11 yellows.

Moyes bitching about being ****e again
"It's been well documented that we wanted Cesc Fabregas, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo," said Moyes.
"There was talk of Ronaldo when I first arrived. We were close to getting a couple of major names.
"I'm not getting in a blame game here but things just didn't materialise.

I said it a while ago, their whole master plan for this season is flawed by one simple thing. They expect to challenge for the title because they didn't have Europe, and the reason why they believe it's possible is because we did it last season.
But what we did last season was the exception to the rule, not the rule itself, just because you come 7th doesn't mean you automatically mount a title challenge the next year, otherwise Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle and the like would be challenging for titles. The whole notion in and of itself is preposterous, and they've built a house of cards on that very scenario like it's preordained.
Saw this on another forum and had me in stiches
Other half's sister told me how her husband turned the volume off during our game today when YNWA started, and said she had a go at him for being so pathetic, saying he's never done that before but seems to really hate us more than ever now, did I know why?
I said "Its pretty much the first time in nearly 25 years we've been better than them, and I think he's just finding it difficult to come to terms with the natural order of things returning. Perhaps buy him a Liverpool scarf for his birthday." She pissed herself, he didn't come in to say hello.Last edited by Leyton388; 17-08-14, 07:56 PM.

Exactly. All last season everyone said the only reason we could challenge was because we weren't in Europe. Ridiculous.
The Mancs losing the first game is brilliant. They are going to find it tough to attract players and they are screwed without a revamp.
A Manager can only do so much with a pile of crap.
Hopefully they will struggle to get more than money grabbing mediocrity if anything in the next two weeks.

Looking forward to a Butthead meltdown when he doesn't get better players...;-) We can't play them soon enough...
