To be honest it seems to happen everywhere. The local club to me here Viking quote the season tickets sales and sales for that specific game. I was invited to a game last season in a VIP box, I only really went for the free food and drink. There was around 6000 people at the game but they announced over 11000

Do they do the same as Arsenal and count tickets sold instead of actual attendance - so season tickets would be counted even if nobody shows up - where as the police only count actual attendance?

        Yes.

Don't most clubs do that though?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Don't say that! Sick taunts mar Manchester United win at Stoke
            14 Apr 2013 19:04

Potters supporters mocked the Munich disaster after oblivious United fans had laughed at their tribute to the tragic death of a 14-year-old

Fan taunts marred Manchester United's win at Stoke as the two sets of supporters clashed at the Britannia Stadium.

Stoke fan Kameron Bourne, 14, was found dead in his bed at home on April 7 and the home fans applauded throughout the 14th minute of their 2-0 defeat to United as a tribute to the tragic teenager.

United fans, unaware of the significance of the tribute, infuriated their Stoke counterparts by mocking the sudden outbreak of applause and chanting 'What the f****** hell was that?' to their rivals.

Stoke fans incensed by the response of some United fans to the tribute then proceeded to taunt United fans over the 1958 Munich disaster, which saw eight of Sir Matt Busby's players lose their lives as a result of the air crash.

The Munich taunts were then caught by Sky cameras shortly after the tribute by the home fans, while songs mocking the disaster could be heard coming from a small pocket of Stoke supporters.

Members of Kameron's family, including his brothers Justin, aged 23, and Ryan, 17, were given tickets to the game by Stoke following an appeal in the town's local paper The Sentinel.

A few reports from people who were there that United fans were singing Hillsborough songs as well in response.

They sing them at every match so yesterday would be no different.

The club themselves show some class on this day every year but their fans are ******s in the main.

Fair play to ManU, they've been so consistent throughout the season.

Certainly not they're best team of recent times, but they really know how to grind out 3 points week after week.

With them and the Suarez hysteria, two reasons to avoid the papers for a while.
