If they don't deny it in the next 24h then he is gone IMO and they can't lie about it because as already been mentioned that they are listed on the stock exchange.

Can see this being true. There was a bit of a campaign in the media for them doing the triple, the FA helped them walk the league but Rafa and UEFA didn't play ball. I think it was expected this would be his final season.

In fact whoever goes in is IMO almost guaranteed to do pretty well, given their resources, power and influence (the latter two of which will endure after Ferguson's gone, I reckon, albeit with diminishing returns). If someone else waltzes in and carries on winning everything, it ought to make Ferguson's achievements look a little less great.
I've always believed that when he goes, so will united as a threat. The squad is good but he takes them to another level.

Whoever comes in will need to replace the old guard and spend millions just to compete with City and Chelsea next season.

I really think this could be the end for United, especially if they get Moyes!

I think you're being way too optimistic there unfortunately

Perhaps you'll be right if they get Moyes, but if that does happen and he's doing poorly then I doubt he'll last long - they'll never give a new manager the leeway that Ferguson got in his early years there.

If they get a good manager, and continue to let him spunk £20-30m on a single player then they'll remain there or thereabouts.

Does anyone think we'll see a statement of sorts today? The uncertainty won't be doing their share value any favours, and I suspect due to their stock market involvement, they will have to either confirm or deny the speculation, no?

                              Yeah agreed that's optimistic

They will have succession planning in place without a doubt. Its not all going to crumble just because hes leaving.
