I truly hope so. The nightmare scenario is that city and Chelsea have transitional seasons with new managers and united spend big to support the new manager and satisfy shareholders, all under the tutelage of ferguson pulling the strings in the background.

My glass is definitely half empty today.

Won't matter one bit as Fungus is cannonised & ascends onto the FA board like some footballing version of the Virgin Mary. He'll the cast out Infallable Decrees like the Pope, ensuring all of Scum's results = 3 points.
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

this is also my fear. would be ****ing typical for their dumb ass punt to pay off unlike any of ours.

Must be city fans - now if it was London or Thailand then it would be a more accurate reflection of Utd fans

i would prefer to back them at 10/1 to finish outside of top 4.

Replacing Ferguson with a succesful manager would have been hard enough for them, but to replace them with Moyes is a joke

If they finish 5th or worse, it would be indescribably amazing. Not gonna happen.

Thing is Shaggy I remember the late 80s/early 90s when our "golden" era came to an end when Dalglish left. As soon as teams sensed the aura of invincibility was diminishing they ****ing went for us big style. Sheff Wed,Bolton,Wimbledon etc suddenly fancied their chances even at Anfield. I don't think this bodes well for UTD at all and I don't even think wishful thinking comes into it.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

I remember it too but for us it came pre-Premier League boom. I just think they're in such a position of strength now, with a solid structure, massive revenue and all that power and influence - which will remain now they've conveniently managed to fill the PL and FA hierarchies with United fans - that they won't fall anywhere near as spectacularly as we did.

I don't think they'll win the league next season but then I wouldn't have fancied them even if Ferguson had stayed. 3rd is very possible (behind Chelsea and City) but I don't see them finishing outside the top 4.

Europe will be a laugh though. Although they'll obviously get their routine piss easy draw in the group stages, watching Moyes flap about in Europe could prove amusing

I think this is going to be the start of the decline, we have to hope that they stick with him early days and don't get rid after the first season, as Shaggy has said I'm not sure they'll fall as far as we did/have but a gradual decline is more than possibility for them.
