Shame we don't have wads of cash like they do.
    Nahh different types of players

Mata is more of a No.10 player who plays in the hole off the striker, much in the same way Rooney does

Cabaye is more of a box-to-box midfielder / attacking midfielder who likes running onto the ball

Think Cabaye would be an excellent signing for them in fact they need that type of player more urgently than they needed Mata

I wish we were in for Cabaye as well as I think he'd be a great addition to our squad

I find the signing for £37m very strange. Yes Mata is a manU type player - but i dont consider him a Moyes type player.

Moyes expects his midfielders to be hardworking off the ball - Mata simply isnt going to bring that to the team. Yes he will make them more creative - but i honestly dont feel Moyes feels confident playing like that.

Only time will tell. But iv got a sneaky feeling that the big winner in the whole deal will be Jose. The £37m has enabled him to further mould his team to his style - by getting £37m for a player that he considers nothing more than a squad player.

Mourinho is a dick.. but he is one of the best managers/tacticians in the game & is a crafty *******.

Mata's a fantastic player. I don't think United could pass up on the opportunity to sign him. He doesn't solve the squad's deficiencies and Moyes might not get the best out of him but United will be much stronger in the future by having Mata at the club. Sadly.

I thought they were going to retire the number 8 shirt in honour of Anderson.

I'd forgotten about Anderson how much was it they paid for him £17-18m?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

They were only going to retire it because it's so badly stretched that no one else can wear it.

As funny as that is, it demonstrates just how few signings, big money or otherwise become a complete success. For every RvP, there's a few Andersons and Verons. It happens to all clubs. But it didn't stop United walking the league most seasons.

But when it happens at LFC (see current crop of back ups), it's often attributed to bad management. I honestly don't think our success rate is far removed from the average.
                              Oh I don't know.
