United stink of desperation... they will splash the cash in a short term effort to avoid drifting out of the top tier for a long period of time.. like what happened to us. Started with Mata and i have no doubts they will spend massively in the summer.

Without Champs League football they are going to have to pay over the odds for quality players, and they will as they are desperate to keep touch. Also it's a matter of them keeping their existing talent like RVP and Rooney, and sure they've already got Rooney on a new contract for 300 grand a week. The last thing they want is an exodus, doesn't look good trying to attract players when all the good ones are leaving.

No Sheikh is exactly going to be keen to pay the Glazer family's asking price. Cheaper to buy a team in another big city and just pump them up like Man City or Abramovich with Chelsea.

Yeah fair enough but City or Chelsea wouldn't be the revenue making machines that Utd are, although if their decline continues they'll lose a lot of 'support' in Asia

It might be cheaper to buy another club, but Utd are the biggest club you can buy. That means bragging rights, and might be worth for them.
