I don't think Rooney is a particularly special player any more and Van Persie is past it too. United don't just need to strengthen they need to rebuild, it's a huge task and they probably need to spend ****loads of cash just to assemble a reasonable side.

Toni Kroos: Man Utd target to stay at Bayern Munich, says agent
Toni Kroos will not sign for Manchester United this summer and will stay with Bayern Munich "until at least 2015", according to his agent.
The Germany midfielder is contracted to Bayern until June 2015, but talks over a new deal have reportedly stalled over his pay demands.
"There's no official contract offer and there's no need for United to submit one," the 24-year-old's agent Volker Struth told German newspaper Bild.
"Toni's at Bayern until at least 2015."
Kroos, one of a number of key transfer targets for United manager David Moyes, would be able to move to Old Trafford as a free agent when his contract expires next summer, but the German champions are eager for him to stay in Munich.
"It depends on Toni, but we want to continue with him here," said Bayern coach Pep Guardiola.
Bayern strengthened their squad by signing defensive midfielder Sebastian Rode from Eintracht Frankfurt on a four-year deal.
While Kroos can play in that position, Guardiola has regularly used him as an attacking midfielder this season. What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

money making depends on success no?
Spend more, greater debt, less success, reduced income...

The way United are set-up CL money is a tiny proportion of their income.Originally posted by Frenchie View Post

As they sink their revenue will dry up a little, with less sponsorship and less Asian fans buying merchandise.
However look how long we've been without success, and as soon as we got in a decent marketing team our income started to boost. After the past 20 years United are unfortunately as big a name as us, and they will always be relatively rich.
Would love to see them do a Leeds, but nigh on impossible.Last edited by EwarWoo; 16-04-14, 11:37 PM.

How long is Moyes' contract?Originally posted by G View PostYeah but it'll take years of mediocrity to affect their revenue generation and there's always a Saudi/Qatari prince ready to spend a billion on them to bail them out. Their sponsorship alone next seasons will probably cover their summer outlay.
Edit:- In response to Frenchie
