You know that stumbling, ragged, slurring, deluded wreck of a man staggering around the dance floor at the end of a disco, wiping sick from his chin, trying his best to chat up the loveliest ladies, being rejected by each, before working his way down the list until the fattest, ugliest one also rejects him? Ryan Giggs takes over as manager of Man United and decides to introduce a new training regimen. Everyday, 8.30am, in he comes to work, shouts at the players "Run dem laps, I'll be back in an hour" then jumps in his car and drives away.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, the same thing, Giggs arrives, sends the players running and then disappears for an hour. After a while Wayne Rooney has had enough, and as soon as Giggs disappears in his car, he says to the lads, " **** this, I'm away home to have a chip butty and bacon sandwich, see you lads in an hour."

So, Wayne jumps in his car and tears home, runs into the Kitchen, turns on the deep fat fryer, pulls out the bacon from the fridge and is about to start a massive fry up when he hears a groaning noise from upstairs. He decides to have a look and quietly sneaks up to the master bedroom, opens the door a crack and looks in... only to see Ryan Giggs plugging Coleen with great gusto and vigour.

Wayne quietly closes the door, sneaks back down the stairs, puts away the bacon, turns off the deep fat fryer, slips out the door and drives back to Carrington, very subdued.

He gets out the car and walks back to the pitches, shaking and sweating uncontrollably. Seeing this, all the players crowd around him and say, "What's wrong Wazza, why are you so upset?" to which Wayne replies, "****ing hell lads, that was a close one, the gaffer nearly caught me skipping practise!"

The arrogance and sense of entitlement of Manchester United and its supporters truly is staggering. They have no divine right to be winning league titles in the same way we didn't back in the day. Just because they are Manchester united doesn't make them entitled to be top of the tree.

They and their fans are going to learn pretty quickly just what it means to midtable and lingering in 6th and 5th for the next few years. Even if they do get a good manager it is going to take them quite along time to get a team together that is ready to challenge for the league. We will get stronger as will city and the chavs. Their best bet would be to try target Arsenal for that 4th place.

I think you are being unfair on a lot of their fans. Their reaction is pretty similar to when Hodgson was with us. We just tend to hear the most ******ish Manc voices (as I'm sure they have from us over the years).

My feeling is that next season the top positions will be pretty open again. We will struggle to build a squad that competes in the CL and league. Arsenal are still 9/11 of a really exceptional team but keep failing to build. I can see United having a shot at a CL spot next year with a coherent attacking plan and decent transfer business.
