The thing about United isn't that Van Gaal is doing badly or is past it. It's they're still deep into a rebuilding job and whoever comes in will have their work cut out unless they can attract the best players straight away. Mourihno would have the aura to achieve this but his lack of a record of continuity building in each of the club he's been at counts against him.

United will gain in the long run by sticking with Van Gaal.
    Are we winning?

Who's the upgrade though? I've said it before, they clearly don't want Jose or he'd be there already. If we beat them in the Europa it'll be a hard defeat for them so if the mini league rival continues around that to take the pressure off that's ok, as long as we win our league games too. Don't need them to have a total league collapse but to be in the hunt for 4th right up to the last game only for us to get in ahead would be great.

Or them getting fourth and City in 5th winning the CL to knock them out of it would be delicious, as long as we've won the Europa

Next up a short hop to the noisy neighbours (after a Europa Thursday against us) and then a home match against Everton, and then to make it even moore gloomy away to Spurs

LVG's comments about Mata are fantastic. Of course the official shouldn't look at the incident but should take into account the mentality and previous behaviour of a player. Clueless. Write that in your folder Louis!

Does an English winner finishing outside knock out 4th place then fella? I always forget what the ruling is. I'd rather we got 4th and neither Manchester sides make it in. In fact, best scenario would be to win the Europa and come 4th denying the EPL their 5th entry

Yes that would be best. As for my scenario, 4th place in the league loses its place only in the event the winner of the CL finishes outside the top 4.

Absolutely loved how gutted Rio and Scholes were as they ripped Man U to shreds last night. One thing they pointed out, the players they have sold over the last 3 years are a lot better than the ones they've brought in.

They look as bereft of ideas and identity as we did towards the end with Brendan.

If they somehow convinced Ronaldo to come back, he alone would elevate them to challengers as the league is so poor. It's hard to write them off as they are so jammy.

It's getting toxic there, it's ****ing marvellous. As we know it's a long road back from a position like this, and the pool of potential new signings for them is getting smaller all the time. We are a more attractive proposition than them now.

What about a potential pull of Mourinho at Old Trafford?

Not sure that alone will be enough. Also I think the prospect of playing for him is much less appealing to players now than it was 5 years ago.

Mourinho whole USP was that he was a serial winner, that's taken a bit of a beating thi season. Obviously he can raise a side like Mna Utd but the poison he left in the Chelsea dressing room will be talked about across the game and some top players might prefer to ply their trade elsewhere esp as Utd themselves currently have the whiff of decline extruding from their orifices.

True, but I think he'll pull something out of the bag, like an Ibrahimovic signing, a blockbuster player who will instantly captivate the attention of the football world.

If we finish the season strongly, and get our signings done early, then we won't have to worry.

The appointment of Mourinho will cause a schism, one which could tear the club apart. That's why it hasn't happened yet and why it probably wont happen. There are some very influential people at United that do not want him there.

LVG will go in the summer and I reckon they'll go for Pochettino.
