It's a lot of money though, I think that if we compare him statistically to other strikers he falls just below the elite level, players like Sanchez and Aguero, and would fall in the upper bracket where Firmino, Lacazette, Morata belong.

Don't think Firmino is in that upper bracket of forwards yet. He is nowhere near as prolific as the upper bracket guys.
Would agree that Griezmann falls short of the top level though. He is a quality forward, but not in the same class as a Suarez or Aguero. For some reason I thought Griezmann was a bit younger than he actually is. Thought he was about the same age as Dybala.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I was comparing them using Sqwawka and overall Firmino was surprisingly close to Griezman I thought, Griezman has 16 goals and 8 assists and Bobby has 7 assists and 11 goals, Bobby then comfortably outscores him in key passes, chances created, passes, take ons, interceptions and tackles.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostDon't think Firmino is in that upper bracket of forwards yet. Was only looking at goal return over the past four seasons tbh. Griezmann has not dropped below 16 league goals a season in that time and twice has gotten more than 20 league goals in that time. Has been pretty much a one in two man for four seasons now.
I know it is not completely fair to compare them as Bobby has played in other attacking positions probably more often than Griezmann has, but their goals to games in the league over four seasons are not close.
Griezmann has played 146 league games and gotten 76 goals, whereas Bobby has played 132 league games with a 45 goal return.
That upper tier for me has guys like Sanchez, Kane, Costa, Lacazette, Aubameyang and Higuain in it. Guys who can go seasons with a goal rate of one in two or better.
Bobby for me is a different type of player and as such is not really a forward on the same level as those guys, just as most of them would not be an AM or second striker style player that can bring the qualities that Firmino can.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I compared Griezman with Sanchez, Aguero, Bobby and Lacazette, I used Bobby since he was our striker really. I thought Griezman would look better than he did, Bobby runs him close for goals output for this season and they played almost the same amount of league minutes.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostWas only looking at goal return over the past four seasons tbh. I reckon Griezman is not an elite players like Aguero, Sanchez and Suarez but it looks like United will pay an elite price for him. I think Griezman might be brought in as a nr.10.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Yeah do think that if that lot buy Griezmann that they will indeed pay a World class player transfer fee for a player who is not in that bracket.
You might be onto something with your number 10 comment. Mind you if I was paying the sort of money rumoured and wanted a player for that position for any team bar that lot, then I think I would be trying for Dybala.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

The thing is in such a poor Spanish league - in terms of competition, I'd expect a prolific striker (which amounts to £80m +) to be scoring a minimum of 25 league goals a season.
