What i find funny is now on social media and even in here comparing Uniteds season with ours. Weren't they meant to be challenging for the league and us for 4th spot? Revisionism now that their league challenge never actually happened. At the start of the season both clubs had two very different goals.

On paper of course they had a better season but ffs they have the most expensive squad ever assembled so they should have a better season !! Social media is a wash with them today.

We got 4th against the odds on no spend and terrible injuries,played some great football,had an incredible record against the big teams and it'll be quite easy to improve our team/squad for next season.

Agree totally. If we finished 5th the season would have been a failure.

Hang on. Look at the teams who were tipped to be above us - Chelsea, City, Spurs, Man United and Arsenal. By rights we should have been finishing 6th. If we'd spent bazillions and Klopp had been hear a couple of years fair enough, but considering we did and he hasn't we did well getting to fourth - overachieving. The only thing that made it disappointing was that we'd started so well and dropped off, but that's partly the fault of the thin squad and the not spending of the aforementioned bazillions to beef it up.

That's a load of nonsense. We finished 8th last year and most of our rivals who finished above us spent more than us or got in world class managers. What right had we to finish above them?

By this logic, if we qualify for the CL this year, everyone will be happy to finish below those teams with a 'free run'?

4th was a minimum requirement, no doubt. It was also a great achievement and one we had to overachieved to get there.
