The only thing that made it disappointing was that we'd started so well and dropped off, but that's partly the fault of the thin squad and the not spending of the aforementioned bazillions to beef it up.
After Leicester City last year it was a pretty even battlefield for top 4. Yes, this time round there were only ever going to be 4 out of 6 but we had every confidence and hope of getting a CL spot and we did it by the skin of our teeth. Anything less would have been a failure, that's how I see it.

      Better put than mine.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

          **** off??? In what world???

What in God's name did Leicester last year have to do with the league this year? How did that even it out? Them strengthening Chelsea by giving them their best player?

It was not an even battlefield at all - looks at the squads and the spend. This wasn't an adequate performance, it was an excellent one. Hopefully we'll spend a bit this summer and set our sights higher. Leicester winning the league last year was a rank outlier, not some new hilarious norm.

Absolutely. We dropped off after we lost a couple of key players, but our squad is so thin there was no way we'd last the course. If we'd done our season in reverse we'd all be masturbating furiously watching replays of the last 15 games of the season.

              Dramatisation.

Don't tell me to **** off you prick.

Where did Chelsea finish last year? Was it a given they would challenge, with the start they made and having a new manager? Leicester showed that the traditional top 4 was not as strong or consistent as people thought. This season we thought we could even win it before the New Years disastrous run. Top 4 was the minimum, anything less would have been a failure.

Probably best just to agree to differ.
I'm happy with the way our bunch of bottlers scraped into the bare minimum position in such a weak league.
Seems like some would have been happier if we'd come 5th so they could have a proper moan.

We had the joint 2nd highest points improvement in the league. Arsenal got more points than last years as runners up and we still got 4th.

As rightly pointed out the bookmakers had us the outside bet of 6 for Champions League.

Our aim and hope was CL but we had no divine right and we achieved our goal against the odds and thats with a **** run of injuries and our best player away for a month.

Haha, it's a figure of speech and you know that, stop being so sensitive.

They finished 10th. Like us they massively overachieved although to be fair, they had a squad of Championship winners to work with and we had a squad of 6th place finishers.

I still don't see the relevance of Leicester though. You are saying the top 4 isn't as strong as people thought, yet this was one of the highest scoring top 4's since the PL began, plus we proved capable of beating everyone in this top 4.

I agree that everything below CL qualification would have been a failure, but equally if I bet on a horse in the Grand National and it finishes 2nd, then that's a failure to me, but if the favourite wins the race then I can hardly blame the horse. Regardless of what Leicester did last year, there was no way we were favourites to finish in the top 4 this year.

Pardon me for being over sensitive but when did telling someone to **** off become a figure of speech?!

Wouldn't be surprised to see Kane move to them in the summer - £100m plus

Dont forget every team in the PL this year banked an extra £50m - I do think Utd will go balls deep this summer, would not be surprised if they had a clear out and brought in 5-10 new players

Can't see why Kane would leave Spuds, at least for United anyway.

Boyhood club, improving, attacking football where he gets goalscoring opportunities to a dull team miles behind where they are now and where his attacking flair will be smothered.
