If you go back to his time at Chelsea, he created a "mini war" with them ands then began with his charm offensive and was rewarded with a new contract. The extended contract with these is just history/tactics repeating itself. The main purpose is for his financial gain

I think the board is mindful of the signs, it's looking rather ominous and very unlikely that he'll be there next season, probably losing the players and staff, I wouldn't make any major changes for him.
