Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport: "Great result in the end, they showed character.

"It's exactly what we wanted from Manchester United today - desire. Today we saw Jose Mourinho can get something out of this dressing room and they will work for him. They were fantastic in that second half."

Great result tbh. The longer he’s there the better tbh.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes on BT Sport: "I can't see him [Mourinho] going now, it was a completely different team. They all wanted it, they all wanted to score and get the win.

"He made the right substitutions but his passion on the touchline must have transferred onto the team, he was right up and down the dugout."

No way have they fixed all of their issues. That was an abject Newcastle team they only just beat.

If he has them playing like they did second half with more regularity, they will climb up the table.

Their defence is a joke though.
                  Are we winning?

Based on current performance it’s unlikley and they were playing one of the worst sides in the league.

They should be far too good for Newcastle, yet Newcastle can feel aggrieved not to have gone 3 nil up.

This result buys Mourinho time, but the rot is set deep. Tactically they are all over the place. They won that because Newcastle are **** and Man U have enough decent attackers and they threw them all on.

I reckon the crisis will be back on in a week or two.

Chelsea away next. A draw would be nice.

3 defeats and 3 draws would be lovely.

Unless everyone is **** hot but don't want to play for Jose. Maybe Fellaini has been suppressing his inner Iniesta.

I certainly hope so, as I've said before Jose & United are made for each other. Given time I'm confident he can lead them back into the pre-Fergie wilderness from whence they came.
When their greatest achievement was beating us in the '77 FA cup & denying us the treble.
I would love it if he was able to emulate the team of '74 & get them relegated.
