The problem (well one of them) that Utd are encountering is similar to the one we had buying VVD. Clubs have no financial imperative to sell now. We have twice gone in anyway (VVD and Alisson) and it has paid off. BUt going all in on Wan-Bissaka seems rash. Also we were adding the finishing touches when we had to pay mega bucks, Utd are at the start of an(other) overhaul.

This is true....pay over the odds or make the player push for a moveOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostThe problem (well one of them) that Utd are encountering is similar to the one we had buying VVD. I thought part of the issue with the fee is Utd proposed to waive the Zaha sell on fee, which if he went for £60M plus amounted to around £10-15m. Palace want a guaranteed £50m plus add ons and lose the Zaha sell on fee which Utd probably feel is a bit too far. (In fairness he's woefully overpriced after half a season)I make no apologies, this is me

True, living off the glories of the not too distant past. Long may it continue.Originally posted by Pablo View PostThe parallels between Man Utd now and our decline in the 90s keep on coming.

To be fair, Souness got rid of Houghton Mcmahon, Whelan, Nicol, Hansen, Hysen, Staunton and bought in Thomas Stewart Clough Piechnik Dicks Walters and Saunders...Originally posted by Patricks_Berger View PostHis injury precipitated our decline. We were over reliant on him and he didn’t come back the same player.
He did buy Rob Jones..
and I actually thought Ruddock was half decent...
I dont think Barnes decline was the main factorIn the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

It was a very important factor, along with the Souness fire sale. He’d been our best player by some distance, and talisman, for 3 years. People forget just how good John Barnes was at his peak.Originally posted by Charly View PostTo be fair, Souness got rid of Houghton Mcmahon, Whelan, Nicol, Hansen, Hysen, Staunton and bought in Thomas Stewart Clough Piechnik Dicks Walters and Saunders...

Souness must have been off his head, or pissed with power, to have gone about things the way he did. Possibly the early signs of his illness effecting him.

I could see Klopp making a player out of him, but not Solskjaer.
All bets are off with them for next season. He looks a prospect, and if thats what £50m gets you.
The environment is toxic, that seems to be the issue, and good highly rated full backs have gone there before and done nothing. See Luke Shaw.
How the entire club and fanbase reacts to setback next season will be interesting. They were in free-fall towards the end of last.
They still have to ship out Lukaku, Sanchez etc. which wont be easy with the mental wages.
And then they have Pogba, he wants away. And though he is a show pony, he was top of all of their stats last season, goals, assists, chances created etc.Modifying post.
