His positioning on the second goal is terrible also. Gets caught in no mans land. His lack of positional awareness means the rest of the defence will also be caught out given he is the alleged captain and leader.

I maintain he is not completely terrible. He’s just a bang average ‘solid’ stopper type centre back. He’d be amazing at say, Villa or West Ham level. Where Man U want to be, he’s not got what it takes.

He's no better for me that the replacement Leicester brought in for him, he's decent but nowhere near a top level CB.
Pundits over here will talk him up as this great defender much like they do with Stones.

Yep - he is a Ben Mee, Lewis Dunk type player and nuts that United blew so much on him. He is good in the air but a defence leader he is not

The above clip suggests he has being doing individual training with Tony Adams

De Gea - 375,000 per week salary

That was among the most expensive defense on display there.

            Throw in £30m Eric Bailly.

They've ruined him. He looked decent before signing for them.

I love the false sense of security that their good form* since lockdown has brought.

Maguire on the telly after the game last night basically said the best team lost and that they were on the up. Also mentioned that they weren't happy with 3rd in the league and that's not where they'd be next year**

Also, the pundits just kept talking about Sancho. "If Sancho was playing, then United go through". Well he's not their player. Also, unless he can play center back, then they still have a long way to go. They have spunked £130m on 2 defenders - and their defense isn't that much better.

I think that they might have a goalkeeper crisis next year. Romero will be cheesed off because he was their cup keeper - but lost out to De Gea again last night. Plus Henderson will be back in the summer. He won't want to sit on the bench - but whoever is on the pitch, the pressure will be intense. One **** up on either side and there will be huge speculation again. They'd actually be better off getting Henderson to sign a long contract and then sending him out on loan again. But they won't do that.....

Actually wouldn't mind Romero as a back up to Alisson.

                * which is bollocks - they've played ****in nobody decent.

** they'd be lucky to finish 3rd next year

                      great post!

I couldn’t believe it him saying 3rd isn’t where they want to be- they finished 30+ points off us, and city had a much worse season than their previous 2, don’t know how he kept a straight face with that one. For all the progress that they’ve made- they finished with the same points tally as the year before- and would have been a lot worse off if bruuuuuno didn’t hit the ground running.

When I started a new job a few years ago, I worked my bollox off the first few months- had a new found motivation, that feeling I was being observed, etc etc.. then I settle in and revert to my half arsed efforts... reckon that is what’s happening with Fernandez- don’t think he’s looked that great the last few weeks. His highlight reel would just be him taking about 40 penalties.

Yaaa I noticed pundits talking about “if Sancho was playing for them”. I guess they’re just playing to their audience but absolute nonsense. He’d be some dope to go there. Still very young, he can wait another year or so if needs be and get to a big club then. Also he’s at a club that’s in much better shape than United at the moment!!
                      I don't tip

it’s some crappy attitude to have- deluded! Sevilla scored twice from open play, United only scored a very soft penalty- how were they the best team!!

Players should never play that card, but the only time ya might expect to hear it, would be if they were robbed by VAR/ref for a few goals or something. Ya can’t take that stance just cos ye couldn’t finish yer chances and couldn’t defend the few times it was required
