He was on something like 375k per week. I think it went back to when he won all their player of the year awards and they would genuinely have been bottom half without him for a few years. He rightly pointed to the wages that the likes of Pogba, Sanchez, Zlatan were all on, put on his best Robert DeNiro Goodfellas impression and said "**** you...... Pay me" in his contract negotiations. Fair ****s.
I think united had offered him something like 200k pw and then tried to negotiate it down further. ****in stupid but they could end up with something like tom heaton in goal if they dont get it sorted out

apparently they had agreed a new contract at 200k per week which De Gea signed. The club then ripped that up and offered lower terms again.
de Gea reluctantly agreed (seems he would like to go back to Spain but none of the top Spanish clubs need new keepers).
They then withdrew that offer and said he could leave on a free. They have apparently asked him not to sign for anybody else yet until they can sign a replacement. Like wtf?!

He signed a contract and it was ripped up?
Sorry mate, I know nothing about DG's situation but this is clearly untrue

I think they'll miss De Gea massively. Yes he's made some absolute howlers but he's also kept them in a lot games with world class saves. I think the saves he consistently makes for them in games is overlooked because he made the most **** ups directly leading to goals. You can do both in the same game and he does. **** them both.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

I'm not arguing the toss on whether the deal was changed - I have no idea what went on - but there is no chance that a signed deal was ripped up as suggested.
