Interesting to see McTominay earning rave reviews for Napoli, starting for them every match with Napoli currently sitting top of the League. He has been in great form for Scotland for a couple of years now. He was an academy player with the club since 6 years old, zero ego and would have done anything for the club. Popped up with crucial goals (10 for them last season). Didn’t want to leave… a baffling move. His profile just didn’t seem to fit. That said a good move for McTominay and I can feel less filthy supporting him for Scotland.

He's a lot better than Man Utd treated him.

My missus is a United fan, and she was baffled as to why he was being let go. One of the few players to show passion on the pitch, always gave his all and chipped in with a fair amount of goals, even when not a regular starter. United's loss is Napoli's gain tho.
Don't see anyone saying he's a world beater? What I do see is people saying that he is one of the few players that understands the club and was guaranteed to at least show effort and willingness on the field, which is something that they lack at the moment. Not every player in the squad has to be world class, you need workhorses and motivators, especially when the chips are down.
Every Utd fan I heard was groaning about Ole playing him, he personified their mediocrity. He should probably have been a squad player, and a useful one at that, but he wouldn’t get anywhere near our first team. They need much better to improve as a team.
A lot of them are revising what they got from him now also. Fundamentally they didn’t get the best from him by not ever playing him in best position as it is the same as Fernandez. But ultimately he should be the perfect squad player for them.
Anyway, I think they should have kept him but am delighted they didn’t!
I’d say he is underrated as a player and am sure he will prove that at Napoli. Goal and an assist already and he’s only played a handful of games.
I'm not getting into an argument about McTominay but when he left united i thought they were losing one of their better midfielders to perform an accounting trick (creating complete profit on a developed player).
Despite getting £30m for him, i think it was a bad deal. He got a few clutch goals for them last year.
To be honest I thought based on what I had seen for them that he was a relatively limited player for them, but the effort and desire that he put in made him one of their better players, that's probably more of a reflection on the other players in the squad. He seemed to be a player who would pop up with some important goals for them in the last couple of seasons.
Personally if I had been in charge (and wasn't trying to sabotage them ) I would have kept him and moved some others on first.
When I say limited player I am probably comparing him to Ferguson era players, which clearly they don’t have now, the players they have in my mind are better technically than him but don't put a shift in, and to my mind that is a big part of the problem with them at the moment.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
