EXCLUSIVE: Ruben Amorim informs Manchester United squad he will be in charge next season + tells Alejandro Garnacho to find new club. Happened during meeting between Portuguese head coach & #MUFC players at Carrington training base today @TheAthleticFC

Maybe we should offer them 20 boxes of fruit for him.

Garnacho is an Argentinian Daniel James. Probably has a decent highlights reel because it won’t include all the shots that go out for a throw-in.
        Never knowingly optimistic

Where Dan James is just a TEMU Michael Owen, I do think Garnacho has the potential to be a good player.

He would probably do quite well at Athletico.

He's a good player. He's desperate to impress so takes on too much himself, but the options he has for assists are very limited. With Rasmus Hojlund in the middle, I don't blame him for shooting from silly angles. In a good team he'll do well. The next Diego Forlan.

Look if you’re talking United & punchable faces I’ll give you Bruno Fernandes anytime.

The only way Man United will play European football is if they get relegated to the Championship and play Swansea or Wrexham.

Man Utd start second round of job cuts

Manchester United have started the process of telling staff whether they will lose their jobs in the second round of redundancies since Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought into the club last year.

Staff at United's Carrington training ground were among those being told on Friday whether they would be retained or let go.

BBC Sport has been told the decision not to tell anyone connected to the first team of their fate was to try and ensure preparations for this week's Europa League final were not disrupted.

It is anticipated that the sports science, medical and scouting departments will be among the areas that could be affected, with up to 200 jobs set to go.

Morale around the club is said to be at a low ebb given this latest news has come so soon after Wednesday's defeat by Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Club sources are adamant the timescale for the redundancies has not changed.

United had about 1,100 employees before the first wave of cuts last year.

About 250 employees were made redundant during the first round of redundancies, saving the club between £8m and £10m.

United chief executive Omar Berrada said earlier this year that between 150 and 200 redundancies were set to follow.

Defeat in Bilbao means United will be without European football next season for only the second time since 1990, leaving a £100m hole in the club's finances.

Ratcliffe has embarked on a series of cost-cutting initiatives since purchasing a minority stake in the club in February 2024.

Club ambassadors, including Sir Alex Ferguson, have had their roles reprised, while a canteen for staff was closed and replaced with the offer of free fruit.

Ratcliffe and fellow co-owner Avram Glazer attended Wednesday's final defeat in Bilbao, with Ferguson pictured alongside them.

Sources have told BBC Sport that a number of cars were driven to Bilbao before the final for the use of Ratcliffe and senior club officials during their time in Spain.

The club stuck to plans to hold a barbecue for the first-team squad and family members at Carrington following the defeat by Spurs.

But the latest cutbacks come against a bleak financial backdrop, with United losing more than £370m over the past five years.
Under most other circumstances, I wouldn't find this funny but **** me are Utd deep in the doodoo Sir Big "I've never had a free lunch" Jim seems like a genuine grade A Monaco welfare queen embittered everyone's-a-free-loader-except-me cunt. Whatever about Amorim, I think they've now gone long past the stage of being attractive to any top manager. Lol.

Despite the dislike for the club you have to feel sorry for the regular people who work there on normal wages who have lost their jobs, and that is who the vast majority of these people will be. £10m saved by cutting between 150 and 200 jobs means (assuming all full time roles) they saved between £50k and £67k per job presumably that includes salary, NI and pension contributions etc. probably puts them on ~£40k a year on average. You could save the same amount by cutting one first team player. Shows how mad football is.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I agree with that. It's a fairly typical genius billionaire CEO fires loads of ordinary people as a mark of his business genius. And tbh, I find it a bit sickening in light of the likes of City being successful on the back of financial doping. I'd much rather see City plummet into crisis than Utd. And yet...

Or by not throwing in the towel in the league and giving up £3m per position.
