With all this surrounding the Glen Johnson/Vincent Kompany tackles was just wondering if the people on EST think that tackling is being forced out of the game.
IMO I feel that both of the tackles where excellent and footballers need to stop being wrapped in cotton wool. It's getting close to becoming a non-contact sport.
When I played football more regularly I used to love a good tackle, and it frustrates me now when people call for fouls when players have an arm on someone else's shoulders.
Sometimes players can will get booked for winning the ball and I was always taught that if you win the ball it's a good tackle.
The Advantge rule has helped a little bit, but for me one of the main problems is inconsistent referees, surely it's referees that should be punished and not tackling being pushed out of the game just because it makes it easier on the ref?
