I hate myself for admitting this but I liked his commentary of the Stoke game. Contradicted the main bloke a bit and gave good explanations of why players take certain positions, even body positions when attempting runs or placing a shot.
I was pleasantly surprised. He even showed a bit of personality.

I have nothing against Owen, no underlying hatred or anything, but I do think he’s a **** commentator. I honestly haven’t picked up on this insight he offers and he often starts sentences without knowing how to finish them and just mutters some gibberish under his breath. I can’t believe nobody else has noticed this.

If you want a dull commentator who does talk a bit of sense, they should get Neil Mellor in. I notice he was on a Sky panel recently too.

I'm quite warming to Owen on MotD. Seems a decent summariser, quite rightly corrected Hansens recent wrong by confirming Suarez and Sturridge to be the best partnership around.
