I expect he will bulk up significantly this summer and next - he needs games games games - we may lose a league title to one of his mistakes but he'll pay back in spades for years if Utd can get the best out of him.

The curse of promise and potential.

You may be right. You may be wrong.

We've had so much promise and potential which has ended up unfulfilled over the years. In all positions.

In goal, remember Kirkland and Carson? Nailed on future England number ones.
        Oh I don't know.

He definitely needs to bulk up, he looks like a little boy. When Pepe arrived he was a big physical presence which helped him bully his way round his area, De Gea couldn't bully a 5 year old.

Please - they are not even comparable. Kirkland was unlucky tbf, lost a lot of time to injury. Carson!!!

            Pull the other one.

I think De Gea was brought to early. Much like Howard. They were both spoken about as great prospects. But they need experience, and good experience. Both of them came in at the deep end at Utd and made mistakes. Howard crumbled and left. But who knows with De Gea.
              *Except Michael, who died.

United should have tried to get de gea in earlier and give him a season behind Van Der Sar

he is clearly very agile, good shot stopper, but he looks ****ing **** scared at times

PTP is dead right, a season behind VdS and playing in the cups/Europa would've been perfect for him. A hard effort in the gym and the experience of VdS helping him in training etc, rather than being lashed in as number 1 in one of the biggest teams in the world.
His shot stopping is as good as you'd expect, but he would struggle to command his area in Schoolboy football let alone the Prem.

I'm sure it's because he is **** scared and rightly ****ing so. You're playing for Man Utd at Old Traffiord ffs!

That's ok though he will have learned a massive amount - I just hope he's got good character - all the young Utd players suffer a bad season at some point but the ones that make it become better because of it. I for one won't lose my **** that badly if he drops a clanged for the league.

They were both ultimately ****, and both the future of goalkeeping at one time or another.
                      Oh I don't know.

i assume ScotsDave is a manc? Otherwise why would you hope he's alright? Personally I hope he costs them the league then is shipped back to Spain for £2m in a year or so.

De Gea would be a great keeper if he wasn't **** scared of human beings and footballs.

It'd be easier for him if he could see them coming.
