Neither have Capello, Hiddink, Van Gaal, Heynckes, Del Bosque, Ancelotti, Trappatoni or (arguably) Lippi...Originally posted by baitman View Postits not like he has worked miracles at lesser clubs and made a massive turnaround.
Very few of the worlds best managers have done that, and it's hardly what one should be meassured on. It can be thougher being under the pressure of big clubs and navigating in that across many clubs and countries is what some of the best managers can do.
It's to me a strange way of putting a manager down, saying that all he achieved is worth little because of something he hasn't done. Mourinho have been fortunate to only manage top clubs and winning a hell of a lot with them under the pressure that comes with the job. And over-achieving with Porto as well mind. Most great managers have spent little time at smaller teams, and that's partly why they are fortunate enough to be one of the greats.
That said I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole because I really dislike him as a person, but I wouldn't disregard the results he has gotten because of it.
I hate Fergie as well, but can't take anything away from what he has achieved as another example.

he has almost never bought in players for the future. look at the geriatric crocks he left for rafa at milan. all he cares about is going to an already big club, being assured of £££millions to spunk on someone for the now. crown himself the special one and move on to his next ego building 'project'removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

the way i see it - we've identified people like Willian, and thought - £15m to £20m is what he's worth, what we want to pay and if we can get him for that great.
Once other clubs, in the case spurs then chelsea start throwing silly money in it's not worth it.
Looking at Willian - i'd have been pleased if we got him, £15m to £20m - he would have played more regularly here so i reckon he would have had a better impact.
£20m + seems excessive - and £20m + for what chelsea have turned into a squad player is just ****i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

how dya mean?

i was meaning it in a good way - if we have identified a player we think is worth £20m - but some other team wants to pay £30m for him, then stuff it. Save our money, or if we want to spend £30m, then identify someone else who we think is worth iti own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

He's just not a good fit for us.Originally posted by Alex View PostIts hardly ludicrous people did is it? He does win things at the clubs he goes too.
Winning the league in 4 different countries is no mean feat.
I know he is a bit of a cock, but thats kinda what I like about him. He is such a caricature of a football manager now. Its like he is a panto villain. Are we winning?

Mourinho is a whopper. He thought he had the Manchester United job in the bag and it looks like them turning to Moyes has sucked all the life out of him. Chelsea offered him an escape route from Spain and he took it; his heart is not in it and neither is any passion.
Such is his personality, he has alienated the media and other teams in both Spain and Italy, so I don't really know what's next for him ... Portugal (national team)? Back to Porto? He can't follow Guardiola to the Bundesliga ... he's outta options.

To be fair, he has been very successful through his career, and if you put aside his obvious lack of class that does not make him a good fit at LFC it was fair enough people wanting him, especially at times when we had Hodgson etc at the helm. The thing that got me was when a few people wholesale bought into the "special one" thing and used to argue that nobody in world football could do anything like the job he could, which was obviously bull**** and I really hope this stay at Chelsea finally dispells the Mourinho myth once and for all.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Disappointed Alex, but sadly far from surprised.
3rd place. Worst champions ever.
