I know what you mean, but if it happened at a football club, it'd be scandalous.

Imagine if Abramovich stripped Terry of the armband without the agreement of Villas Boas?

            unsurprising though!

I guess having a camera friendly idiot in charge will suit the hacks far better than Cappello.

Just think of the juicy stories that most likely will come out with 'Arry in charge

The FA are going to be consulting this man on their next appointment.

I think we need an English manager now, we don't need anything else lost in translation....Harry Redknapp would be my choice by a distance.

footballers should be keeping quiet on the matter.

How depressing. Not that Capello has gone particularly but the way in which all sense seems to have been left behind and xenophobic journalistic feelings exposed.

I heard Marcotti talking about Capellos original comments on 5Live and it seemed like they were quite reasonable - i.e. he wanted Terry to stay but accepted that FA had the position to take decisions on moral issues away from him.

I now hope that Redknapp gets the job and is every bit as at sea as Keegan was.

In a way I wish they had been more honest/open earlier. You wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a campaign against Capello. They are closer to the situation and IMO entitled to have a say. Just not a fan a whispering campaigns and groups of people not feeling able to stand up for their opinions.

Redknapp has never been a hugely skilled tactician so I can only see his tenure ending in failure.

And in two and a half years time the idiots in the press will be calling for a foreign coach again.

Player power certainly helped at LFC a couple of years ago

There is an interesting article by Jonathan Wilson about Redknapps tactical abilities. Essentially says that whilst he tends to have a simple set up and overall plan during games his tactical reading and changes are much more on the ball than he gets credit for. In some ways that rings true for me. He's obviously not crap, just over rated by the English media.

In a way I wish the debate was away from nationality and about ideas. Tactically and in terms of personnel, but also in terms of creating a team identity/philosophy and developing players. The last several appointments have been more about reacting to the perceived flaws of previous regimes than assessing the most appropriate option.
