    Hearts next...

Scottish football is ****ed. Aberdeen nearly went under a few seasons back. They couldn't even afford to replace a broken kettle!

I kid you not, we had a staple amnesty at work a few weeks ago.

        Yeah, yeah.

Yep - Hearts are ****ed too. Players paid late for 4 months in a row. SFA then said if Hearts didn't pay their players on time they would fine them Kind of missing the problem. Scottish football is bankrupt.

Its been coming for a few weeks now so not a surprise at all. Rangers will survive though, new buyer will be found and tax will be paid off over a period of around 25 years

Hearts are defo next tho and they won't survive.

Wasn't winding you up mate, its hearts that are winding up...

Seriously though, Hearts look in a right mess too.

Scotland's lower leagues will end up being semi pro. There are loads of clubs stubbornly holding on to full pro status that don't really need to. Merging a few of those silly little clubs (does Stirling really need two clubs? Look what happened when Inverness had two clubs merge as well... ICT went through every league like a rocket), decreasing the size of the league by about a third and expanding the Premier League up to 16 clubs might improve things, also getting a competitive non league structure with a view to promotion and demotion to and from the Scottish League could end up raising the standards as well. Higher standards, more competition, more interest, more money?

Half the Highland League clubs would probably beat Scottish Division 3 "pro" clubs, but they have to be elected in. Its so antiquated.

No worries, your alright - I couldn't agree more. The whole league system needs an overhaul. The Prem league needs to go, and needs to have more than 10 teams in it. As things stand most clubs face a pretty bleak future. Something needs to change. And fast.

I know a few Hearts supporters who would be happy enough to see the club go to the wall and would support whatever club was formed from its ashes - AFC Wimbledon style.

I don't get how the Celtic fans are gleefully rubbing their hands at Rangers going to the wall. They have no awareness of how their clubs are completely inter dependant - if one goes, the other won't be far behind. They completely need each other. If I was a fan of either club, I would be using now as an opportunity to beg England to let them in at the bottom rung. There'll be more money for them in the English League 1 (after a promotion run in their first season, which isn't by any means guaranteed) than the SPL.

Yeah they do need each other. No way Rangers will go though. They owe HMRC too much. Can't see them being welcomed into English football either. Look at the hysteria and how bad it has been in the press surrounding the Suarez incident and then imagine adding those 10s of thousands of mad *******s into it singing about sectarianism, performing the red hand of ulster and either loving or desecrating the pope every week.

                            Atlantic league anybody?

I think that is where their future lies.

Rangers and Celtic have huge base following and it would be in their best interest to make that switch if possible sooner rather than later.

Much more money to make from TV rights and marketing and commercial deals in addition to ticket sales as to play and watch LFC, Arsenal etc would be simply incredible for them and their fans.

They belong where they are. They just need to spend less money and live within their means.
