A bit harsh if you ask me...a fine and a suspended sentence, maybe some community service would've been enough but to be sent down is a bit heavy handed.

He won't do it again mind!
Fantastic news, the **** is getting what he deserves. Hopefully, he will get dry bummed for the next 56 days

Nothing like good news. I've never been easy about incitement to various hatred laws and this shows how ridiculous things have got. In a free society that values free speech there should be no legal sanction for making such comments. A ****img prisoon sentence, ****ing hell, this country has gone ****ing mad.

why should it be a crime to do so?

Tough one alright.................there's a difference between having zero tolerance for dickheads, and making an example of someone in lieu of current popular feeling.
Thats before even bringing into account populating cell space with such offenses.
The college thing you can argue is a private matter, but they're not one without the other.

Is it his first offence ? Because I've seen far worse over the years go unpunished to such a degree.

it's the same thing which happened to suarez in that, allegedly, racist remark.

ban was harsh, but it was example what can happen to everyone in future.

It's not the same. In the Suarez case there was a dispute as to what was said. The FA went with Evra's version.

In this case it is black and white, so to speak. What was said is not in dispute.
                    Oh I don't know.

                        Racial hatred isn't a crime.

It is, yes. A dubious law, as I said, but putting that aside, how exactly did his tweets incite racial hatred? For me, its bad enough having such a law, but such a wide interpretation is ridiculous.

Lets face it, whenever laws are introduced its with the stated aim of tackling some extreme situation (Abu hamza etc) but in practise its the trivial issues that get prosecuted. We all lose our freedom of speech because we're all dickheads in someone's eyes.

So you want freedom to express racial hatred?

Not sure if you actually seen any of his tweets, from what I seen he deserves to be in jail. Vile little scumbag. About time people like him are being taught a lesson. Scum.
