I think it's safe to say if he was anywhere other than where he was he would be dead now, the response of the medical teams was swift and excellent.

Think I read somewhere that he is going to be kept under anesthetic until tomorrow, I'd presume this is normal practice for cardiac arrest patients and not something that means they don't think he is going to make it?

Boltons next game postponed as Fabrice's battle continues.

          Hope he pulls through...

Bolton-Aston Villa postponed after Fabrice Muamba collapse

Bolton's Premier League meeting at Aston Villa on Tuesday has been postponed amid concern over the health of Trotters midfielder Fabrice Muamba.

The 23-year-old is critically ill after suffering a cardiac arrest during Saturday's FA Cup tie at Tottenham.

A Bolton statement said: "The club would like to thank Aston Villa and the Premier League for their kind support and understanding at this time."

Villa said they had agreed to Bolton's request "without hesitation".

In a club statement, Villa manager Alex McLeish paid tribute to a player he managed at Birmingham City.

McLeish said: "He has always been a terrific lad, nothing other than the perfect professional.

"In my experience he trained every day the way he went to play in games, full of intensity and enthusiasm.

"He is a manager's dream in terms of his commitment to the team and to his club and I know that [Bolton boss] Owen Coyle will feel the same way about him.

"My heart goes out to his family and it is overwhelming to think what they are going through right now."

Bolton's next scheduled game is at home to Blackburn on Saturday, 24 March.

I'll remove this if it offends anyone or if it's in the wrong place.

Apparently The S*n had a close up picture of Muamba on their website. Scum.

"A study of survival rates from out of hospital cardiac arrest found that 14.6% of those who had received resuscitation by ambulance staff survived as far as admission to hospital. Of these, 59% died during admission, half of these within the first 24 hours, while 46% survived until discharge from hospital. This gives us an overall survival following cardiac arrest of 6.8%. Of these 89% had normal brain function or mild neurological disability, 8.5% had moderate impairment, and 2% suffered major neurological disability. Of those who were discharged from hospital, 70% were still alive 4 years later."

He's a fit lad though and recieved CPR within a minute or so fingers crossed he's going to make it.
I think the stats paint a relatively positive picture to be honest. He is in the 10%. People that have been ressucitated by Amubulance staff, made it to hospital alive, and survived the first 24 hours.

Add his excellent physical fitness then from here he has the best possible chance of survival.

VERY nice gesture from Real Madrid tonight, all wearing shirts in support of Muamba and Abidal who's having a liver transplant.

Abidal has had a horrific couple of years. He had some kind of cancer/tumour at one point as well and now this.

                            Get well soon fellas.

Nice to see, considering the apparent poor image that has been portrayed of Real over the last while..........I wouldn't expect anything less from a great football institution.
