Am i the only one that thought Subbuteo was ****? We had a set and i had to force myself to play it, could never get into it.

I loved Subbuteo. But I have to say the fun for me was setting it all up...the pitch (which my Mum would iron for me ), teams, stadium, scoreboard and the flags etc.

We used to play our own way, sometimes using our fingers rather than the players to try some crazy curling shots. My goalkeepers always broke very quickly as a result.

Liked the idea of Subbuteo and the adverts made it look really exciting. Never got into it myself though.

I took my 1989 liverpool team upto the local park and stamped on them all after losing the league to Arsenal in 1989.

I agree with those who have commented how **** playing Subbutteo actually was. It looked mint, but there was no fun in actually playing it. I much preferred this:-

I was a bit of a thick cunt as a kid. I never realised that the game was electric and tried to play it straight out the box. For months I thought it was a proper **** game, I didnt realise you could move the players up and down the pitch using the controllers behind the goal; I just turned the controllers to pass or shoot the ball, I didn't know moving them up and down moved the players up and down the pitch.

Not sure how I discovered it was electric, but when I did, it was awesome
