UEFA Finally take a firm stance against racism

    • Porto fined €20,000 for fans' abuse of Balotelli and Yaya Touré

    Although...

    • Uefa impose €30,000 sanction on City for being minute late

    Football without Origi is nothing

The monetary fines in football are just stupid - I mean why bother, that's change to those clubs ffs! If u're gonna fine a club it should really make a dent like in Formula 1 when McLaren were fined 100 million pounds. Ok I'm not saying football fines should be that big but they should at least matter...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Clearly Man City being late for TV is more of a pressing concern for UEFA then.

I think appropriate fines would be for the club to lose any revenues from the next home game, for instance.

At least genuine honest fans can still see a game rather than it being played behind closed doors but the club still loses out.

An averaging system of previous prices could be used to stop clubs letting fans in for 50p knowing that the money will go to UEFA anyway.

Someone I work with suggested fines for Racial abuse should either go to the victim or a anti racism charity. Don't know about the victim, but the Charity is a great suggestion.

Shocking that they find the clubs more for being a minute late than they do for the racist abuse. Also a €20,000 fine is nothing considering the money in the game.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Well UEFA certainly don't need the money with the gravy train they have created so a charitable organisation would be the next best / most logical beneficiary.

Victim doesn't really need it in most cases as barring the players from tiny clubs like APOEL most are going to be on damn good money to start with.

As its the fans that are chanting then ban them for the next game(s). That way the genuine fans will get pissed off at the ones doing the chanting and ship them. And if they don't they are as bad and deserve to be punished.

Not going to happen though. Too much money flows around for the inconvenience of racism to stop it flowing.
