Its true, Hammers fans love him to bits. I hope he scores soon and gives them hope, then maybe we can squeeze a decent deal out of them in January.

Alberto Aquiliani.......20m, sold for pennies. Although at least he had talent.....Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostCarroll is worth around £12m, we paid £35m
Downing is worth around £7m, we paid £20m
I agree that those two go down as the worst transfers in the history of football as I can't think of any others with a 300% mark-up.
Yes, I am still totally bitter about it

He put in such a great shift he was subbed by Cole, who looked more effective in the minutes he was on than Carroll did in the majority of the gameOriginally posted by Vermilion View PostYet all i heard on radio commentary was how AC was putting in a 'great shift', has been great for WH, and is just lacking the cherry on top of a few goals, but that when he gets one...he'll go on and get a few.
All the Hammers i hear love him too.

That may be true, but they seem to love him all the same, Allardyce seemed to think he put a shift in anyway.
"He wants to score a goal and he wants me to leave him on for 90 minutes but at the end of the day he put that much effort in, there are a lot of fresh players on the bench."
I'm not too bothered what his actual form is, just so long as 'they' think he's doing well.

He isn't ****. But his career could effectively be over. He'll do well to turn it around now. Too much pressure for a lad like him to handle moving from his hometown club for that amount of money. Its weighed him down, he's certainly not the first and won't be the last. History shows there are a number of big money failures, the pressure to perform for the size of fee gets to people. None of us know how we would react. He was showing some decent form towards the end of the season, scoring goals and being a real handful, had Kenny stayed he'd have probably continued that. But Rodgers so publicly making it known he wasn't his type of player (Rodgers is allowed to, before someone jumps in) has further dented the lads fragile confidence. He stated he wasn't going to West Ham and then ended up there. Regardless of the money these lads earn, I find it weird that so many fans take nothing else into consideration before deciding he's ****. At no point did Andy Carroll ask someone to spend £35m on him. He'd have been more than happy to still be at Newcastle.
I find it a shame as the lad seems genuine and was gutted to be pushed out the door. I hope he gets his move back to Newcastle and he has a good career.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Listening to the radio commentary it sounded as if he was asked to drop deep and play quite a defensive (and physically draining) way. It's odd that this seemed also to be how Kenny tried to play him.Originally posted by Assassin View PostHe put in such a great shift he was subbed by Cole, who looked more effective in the minutes he was on than Carroll did in the majority of the game"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

West Ham deal includes option to buy at end of season for 17 million if they stay up...Originally posted by Vermilion View PostI reckon we'll get 15m for AC.
Maybe more if WH stay up and get their share of the new money.
A few goals will really help our cause, he's a big hit with their fans, and imo they will want him to stay. Just depends on AC.Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!
