I think that it was fairly obvious that he improved markedly towards the end of last season and a number of sources suggest a correlation with a change in training. I'm not really sure we are in a position to judge that for certain but it seems to me quite possible that those who can might feel that there is more to come from him than we have seen.

For me a lot depends on what the next manager wants in terms of style, but the way his movement improved at the end of the season I believe he will be here next season and do much better.

IMO give Carroll until January. His work rate and general play did improve & that's taking into account how ****e we were! He has a hell of alot to prove & seriously needs to improve his production.

Fact of the matter though, we need a goalscorer. Will Andy Carroll ever be that? he'll get his chance under the new manager IMO, and up to him to seize it.

I definitely think we need another forward as well. For me we need at least three we can rely on to bring something different to the table. I like Suarez and Carroll as being so different, Dirk seems more of a backup option to me now or an option as a wide attacker in a more 4-3-3 style.

We need better options overall and arguably a more natural goal. But if we don't have to sell to buy I see no real value in getting rid of Carroll at the likley nadir of his value.

Carroll really had very good end of the season and I have to say looks much better then I thought he would but we still have to pick up a new striker with a much better chance/goal ratio.

If we don't and we only keep status quo I don't think we have a chance to get into CL next year.

We have a great player in Carroll. I disregard his fee for now as it's paid and there's nothing we can do about it.

We definitely need another striker who is quicker off the mark, a 'play off the shoulder of the last defender' type. Benzema would be a great striker in that mould?

Mario Gomez would be another.

Speculations are that Edin Dzeko is about to sign for Bayern. If that is the case Mario may be unsettled.

The problem is that even though we could possible afford his fee we couldn't afford his wages unless he'd take a significant cut but you never know I suppose.

Roy Hodgson has hinted at his intention to give Andy Carroll a starring role in Euro 2012 by handing the Liverpool man England's No.9 jersey.

The squad numbers for this summer's tournament in Poland and Ukraine were announced by the FA today.

It wouldn't make much sense to sell him. He's a squad option. I still think we need another striker though.
