The likelihood of him succeeding in Rodgers ticky tacky football is not very high, even less so than under Kenny. Sell sell sell

Oh because Danny Graham is the perfect exponent of tika-taka is he?

I think the leaner, meaner Carroll we saw at the back end of the season, could potentially succeed under Rodgers. I have a few reservations, but I guess that can only be addressed when we see him in action.

I wouldn't sell him and think if we can get Carroll on his toes, he'd be a great focal point to an attack with a Suarez and someone of a similar ilk on the t'other side of him.

I just think people are suggesting as he's a big target man type of forward, who doesn't excel at one touch football, that Rodgers won't use him, which is ludicrous. Danny Graham was a nailed on starter at Swansea, and Carroll is a better footballer than him in my opinion, so I think Rodgers will probably be delighted to have Andy in his squad.

I think he showed toward the end of last season that he was starting to understand a passing style and deveoping his game to suit

it was almost like he came having never been coached in basic technique, but his touch and awareness came on leaps and bounds towards the end of the season.

A strike rate of 1 in 4 (12 goals in 36 games) and probably getting more game time than the majority of outfield players in the whole of the league indicates he is not the perfect exponent, far from it.

Maybe we should be signing Danny Graham

Carroll is a much better footballer I agree and didn't get as much game time. I'm sure if he had got as much game time as Graham, he would have got more goals. BUT he did miss far too many sitters last season for which there is no real excuse. Well most the team did hence the reason why LFC had the lowest conversion rate

Mentioned Danny Graham before. You've got Llorente as well who has developed over the years and fitting effortlessly into Bielsa's pass and move after a number of years playing the long ball game. It's all about moulding the player into what you need them to be. If it doesn't work, then get rid.

Carroll's showed enough in the latter months of the season to warrant another season in terms of settling into a pass and move team. Also, I don't think anyone would even risk paying a large sum of money for him.

I'm not a huge expert on the various Spanish teams but I can never recall Bilbao being a long ball team. They have ALWAYS had fantastic technical players (Extebarria et al). And you cannot compare Llorente to many forwards in the premier league let alone Danny Graham or Carroll . Llorente is technically superb and I'd say 90% of his game is based on technique and 10% strength. If he moved to Premier league I guess that ratio of technique to strength would shift but he is clearly more suited to the pass and move game and the physical element is just a bonus. And he is a great box player too and I think I think probably get 40+ goals a season playing for Barcelona. Just my opinion of course

Didn't Swansea score less than us last season ?

They were a long ball team prior to Bielsa taking over. I was talking about the type of forward Carroll can be and they are examples of players who people wouldn't associate with playing in pass and move teams, but actually do, and very successful.

Plenty of time to mould Carroll into the player that combines strength and technique.

I don't think there is plenty of time, at most 1 more season. Newcastle built their team around Andy Carroll and he had was sort of a success for half a season. I can tell you now Buck won't be building a team around Andy at all! Time will tell if he can adapt because he didn't under Dalglish. If he doesn't do so next season, he never will. I don't think he will to be honest but then I once said Torres would be a major flop when we signed him
