Any other side and you could see a reason for a loan, but Newcastle, the team we bought him off, that's had him since he was a kid!?

Not a chance should we entertain a loan to them.

The mistake we made was when we bought him, anything we do now is damage limitation.

the mistake was also when we paid £35million ......he was nothing more than a£5/10million striker at most

Have to say that I am disappointed that BR has seemingly written him off without having the benefit of seeing him in training first hand. Pre-judging him is a touch out of order and I just cannot see him staying now. Just hope, for the sake of our reputation, that its not on loan and is a permananent deal.

Imagine if newcastle take him on loan and then say they will only pay 10m for him. We then have.a very complex situation in which a player which we forced out if forced to come back to us.

He can refuse to play or train properly and then we have a 35m asset which is worth nothing. If carroll comes back and says he only wants to play for newcastle then we will be over a barrel waiting to be royally ****ed again.

Either newcastle buy him outright or they dont get him at all.

And John Henry's 'Torres - £15m' quote doesn't cover our ownership in any glory either, as much as Comolli warrants a lot of stick.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Be very surprised if Ashley spends 17mill on one player any time soon. Let alone then putting him on 75grand a week.

Andy Carroll is set to return to Newcastle for a cut-price £17 million.daily mirror

Toon have told Liverpool they want the striker back at the club, and will take him on loan for a year with the promise of a permanent deal.

Boss Alan Pardew has set up the move with the blessing of owner Mike Ashley who is delighted by the idea of bringing back the target man he sold for £35 million just 18 months ago.

Carroll can go out on loan from Anfield after the arrival of new boss Brendan Rodgers who wants the side to play his style of football.

And the Liverpool owners are backing their manager’s judgement - although Newcastle must commit to a permanent £17 million transfer as part of the deal.

An official approach has now been made to take Carroll back to Tyneside.

AC Milan were interested in the player but they have made no further move, and a switch to Newcastle appeals more than some of the alternatives run by him in the past few days including West Ham.

Carroll and his camp are shocked by the speed of developments since Rodgers took charge and only learned he was available for loan when Rodgers spoke publicly last week.

The striker ran into some form at the end of last season and scored for England against Sweden at the European Championships when his performances earned favourable reviews.

But now Carroll will take the chance of going to Newcastle who see him coming back full-time if they lose Demba Ba or Papiss Cisse in the future.

Newcastle are also prepared to pick up Carroll’s £75,000 wages in full - another demand by Liverpool to any other clubs after his signature.

Its a massive error of judgement and one that shows naivety imo. At least see the guy.in training and then assess his merits. How can players respect a manager who says.he wanta to build team spirit when he bombs out a player without giving him a chance.

Its just wrong and it shows how few football people remain at anfield in key footballing roles.
