If theyre willing to pay 17 they will pay 20. They buy him outright or they can **** off.

Looks like Carroll is a goner chaps.

I agree with El Matador and that he should be given a chance to at least prove himself but I'm not the manager so it's not my decision.

Rodgers obviously doesn't feel Carroll can add anything to the team so he's willing to **** him off which is fair enough, it's his decision at the end of the day.

We need to recoup a large chunk of what we paid for him as we simply paid way over the odds so anything near £15 million will be decent for him imo.

Rogers doesn't fancy him, thats good enough for me.

As for Carroll, I think he's releasing all the "right noises" to the fans to make the club look like bad for forcing him out. He's probably doing a little jig in excitement at getting back to the Toon, who coincidentally "forced him out and he never wanted to leave anyway like, honest"
Carroll wanted another payrise to stay at Toon before he moved to us if you believed the rumours.

Can't believe a mod has been Pussy wipped by you Daniel 7 sir into calling me Roggy! What if we called him Brenno. We all live in a Brenno wonderland, hey, a Brenno wonderland, ho.

            I'd be happy with £17m

If we go buy someone like Ramierez with the cash.

I think we should take this deal but if and only if we replace AC immediately with a player who is better; not someone who fits the system, not an up and comer with potential, but a player who can step into our starting 11 and be a difference maker. If selling AC facilitates us getting a class player in, I am for it. But otherwise, I do not like this at all, not just for the financial loss, but because we can't sell on and not have targets lined up, hoping for the best. Lots headed out the door, fine, but they must be replaced with a team and players that will get us to the top 4 or the title. Otherwise, this is a BAD MOVE.

He's not worth it for them unless he's replacing someone there who is leaving. I'd imagine they won't match his wages and there's a completely different system, manager and dressing room there now. It won't be easy for him going back either.

£35m striker with a 1 in 5 ratio. FFS, no matter if he was improving, it was the most ridiculous transfer in the history of football. Well done Kenny and Comolli. Out****ingstanding.

if he goes back to newcastle on loan he will be hitting the bars, not the back of the net.

monumental **** up. maybe this will ultimately make the management grow some balls and be more ruthless with transfers, poorly performing players, etc.

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I think we all know that Carroll won't fit in with how brenners wants us to play. Its a shame the lad did improve but he isn't part of the future. He is a waste of our resources and the fee and wages can go to someone who does fit in. I also reckon AC will probably do better at his next club than he did for us.

Who? Borini? Dempsey? ... Who? In BR I trust, but this deal shows him to be ruthless (I like that), but I am curious to see who is worth taking an £ 18 million loss for...starting 11 or bust for me...

An 18m loss is better than spending 85k a week on a player who doesn't fit.

Both those players are better than Andy, as for the loss, we made the loss when we paid £35m for him. There's lots of value in the transfer market, we just need to be smarter.

I don't think we can look at it as a near £20m loss - if we get money for him, that goes in the kitty towards new players - it'll be £15m or thereabouts to spend more wisely.

As has been written on here ad nauseum - the circumstances dictated the price.
