but if that happens then surely there will be better options than west ham available to him.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View Post
True, although if he's banging goals in for them all season and makes it into the England team I'd say he might well want to.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

So if Carroll gets 15-20 league goals for West Ham this season, and as seems possible we struggle for goals, come next summer what do we do?The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Depends who will be our manager. But we will not be in a bad position next summer then, he'll be sellable so we can purchase another striker, or keep him.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostSo if Carroll gets 15-20 league goals for West Ham this season, and as seems possible we struggle for goals, come next summer what do we do?
It's this season that'll be the headache

Depends where we are really (financially, in terms of CL qualification etc). Personally I think we have to back Rodgers for at least two season almost no matter what. We need to commit to a philosophy and grow the club with a well defined direction in mind. Carroll doesn't fit, so in those circumstances we sell him and buy someone who does (and scores goals).Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostSo if Carroll gets 15-20 league goals for West Ham this season, and as seems possible we struggle for goals, come next summer what do we do?
If we have a new manager then I think most would keep him as an option unless they got a massive offer."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Still sell, hopefully his goalscoring exploits will put us (for once) in a position of power. He's never going to fit in to a Rogers team so no use in keeping him.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostSo if Carroll gets 15-20 league goals for West Ham this season, and as seems possible we struggle for goals, come next summer what do we do?We come not to play.

£20m in the bank with Champions League football secured with Llorente's contract expiring is a good mixOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostSo if Carroll gets 15-20 league goals for West Ham this season, and as seems possible we struggle for goals, come next summer what do we do?

Maybe get around 20-25m for him if there as there will surely be other, bigger clubs interested. I'd sell even still. Its not part of a Brendan Rodgers philosophy. He will never score a lot of goals for Brendan Rodgers but for someone like West Ham then possibly.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostSo if Carroll gets 15-20 league goals for West Ham this season, and as seems possible we struggle for goals, come next summer what do we do?

It was a reference to the drivel but using a line from the song.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostIf that's a reference to the drivel / spam above I just deleted then I agree, knock it off lads.
If that's a reference to the football in general, I also agree a bit but not at all sure what to do about it

It seems like most people at the moment are having similar thoughts to me, that being just ship him out and take the money. The reason I asked this question was for all our comments now about him not suiting our style of play, if he starts getting goals and we are struggling for them it then becomes the easiest thing in the world to think bring him back and next year he'll be getting those goals for us.Originally posted by clanhuman View PostMaybe get around 20-25m for him if there as there will surely be other, bigger clubs interested. The problem I can see is that we won't get the type of fee we want for him, as I understand there is no agreed price with West Ham, and to be honest no matter how well he does for them I don't see them stumping up £17m, that is a huge amount of money for a club like them. But I don't see him as the type of player any other top club would come in for.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
