Going back to the original dig at Rafa, I don't even get why he brought it up, let alone to highlight a 4-1 drubbing to get a 'point' across.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

            Schmeichel faces racist abuse charge

Peter Schmeichel could become the first footballer to face criminal charges for alleged racist abuse as his feud with Ian Wright burst back into life.
While everyone expected the Arsenal striker to be charged with misconduct by the Football Association for his behaviour at Highbury on Wednesday night, it was the Manchester United goalkeeper who found himself in deeper trouble.

Wright's complaint that he subjected him to racial abuse during last November's Premiership game at Old Trafford had not, as everyone believed, been quietly shelved.

Instead, the police have been carrying out an extensive investigation and papers have now been lodged with the Crown Prosecution Service.

There were no close witnesses to the alleged incident, but several lip- readers claimed that television pictures showed the Danish international swearing at Wright and, if the CPS decides that evidence is strong enough, Schmeichel will find himself in a unique test case.

"There has been a long-running police investigation into the original incident at Old Trafford," Steve Double, an FA spokesman, said. "As a result of police inquiries into the alleged racist remarks a report has been compiled and is currently being considered by the Crown Prosecution Service."

            Ferguson stands up for Schmeichel

Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United, yesterday denied that his goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel had racially abused the Arsenal striker Ian Wright and described the accusation as a "slur" on the club.

Ferguson was responding to claims by Wright in the (weekly rag) newspaper that the scuffle with the Danish international in the tunnel at the end of Wednesday's highly-charged Premiership game at Highbury had been provoked by racial abuse.

The pair had earlier clashed on the pitch when a two-footed lunge by Wright left Schmeichel clutching his ankle.

"We can categorically deny any racist remark whatsoever from Peter Schmeichel, I can assure you of that," Ferguson told Sky Sport. "There is no question of that, so it's very disappointing to read that. He's very upset. He's got a family to think about too, his family back in Denmark reading all this."

Ferguson considers the accusation as a "slur" on the reputation of United, who are a "worldwide institution". He pointed out that the club frequently spread the football message overseas.

"Two years ago we were coaching in the townships of South Africa," he said. "And Peter was part of that. We have supporters everywhere in the world. We place great store in our reputation, so it's a big slur on us"

Schmeichel's reputation is already under threat from the possibility of criminal charges relating to alleged racist abuse arising from an incident with Wright when the teams met in the Premiership at Old Trafford in November.

One player's word against another. No cultural differences. Accusation of explicit racist remarks. Fergie stands up for his player. Prem, FA, Sky, journos conveniently sweep it under the carpet.
            Another MASSIVE game

it amazes me the power base this utter cunt has managed to create for himself and his levels of hypocrisy. You do actually almost wonder if he's so self absorbed that he doesn't even realise he's done or doing it.

                  Staggering isn't it.

I just don't know how / why he has such an influence. It's plain to see that he's a vicious, bitter and classless cunt yet the media and the football world as a whole seem to think he can do no wrong.

Was he cleared of rape in court or were the charges dropped? That's Evans not ferguson.
Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

On 19 December 2007, Evans was arrested in connection to an alleged rape that occurred at the hotel where Manchester United's Christmas party was held.On 8 March 2008, it was reported that Evans would not be prosecuted for any offence.
