I thought he gave too many soft free kicks from minimal contact or/and dives.

Bayern probably should have gotten another goal, have a feeling they'll be able to get a result at Madrid too. They have one hell of a team, should be a cracker in the second leg.

Been keeping an eye on him lately, and I quite like Luiz Gustavo. I think he's a very good midfielder.

Chelsea have confirmed that they have already lodged an appeal for the red card they are set to receive on Wednesday.

Marcelo yellow and missed Gomez peno.........not just him, but the ever useless assistants behind the goal.
Another poor show of officialdom, which ironically, is about an average display these days.

I don't get the point of those assistants behind the goal, they do sweet **** all in every game. Practically free wages for them.

They actually seem terrified to make decisions......case in point was Barca not getting a pen in Milan in their first leg, despite the assistant being best placed.

Yep, they are pointless, the only time I've actually ever seen one do anything was typically against us in Lisbon v Benfica.

Do we know for sure that they have the power to MAKE decisions? Or are they just there to help out when the referee asks them for some assistance?

positioned behind the goal lines, in order to "ensure that the Laws of the Game are upheld, informing the referee of incidents of any kind that he may otherwise have missed, particularly in key areas of the field like the penalty area and its surroundings," but only informing the referee of their observings through a wireless communication system.

In other words, they're not just there to look pretty

I remember it well - handball called against Carra & they got a pen. An iffy pen to give imo - I've seen many more incidents which were more definite pens where the assistants behind the goal did nothing...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Maybe the most ridiculous stat about Messi since #fcb last played #cfc is that he's moved on from 78 goals to 243 in that time. Gulp.

Think Fat Frank mentioned something along them lines when previewing the game.

Incredible stats, incredible player, incredibly funny if they spank Chelsea right and proper.

Chelsea could do with testing out some of the systems used against Barcelona in La Liga.

Play Drogba and Torres up top, but then have another forward slightly withdrawn, whether that be Kalou or Mata.

I hope Chelsea get ripped to shreds, but if they want to try something that's troubled Barcelona, then this might be the way to go. Dry the pitch out, stay compact and play the ball quickly to the front men.
